Southend United Football Club are delighted to confirm that James Dunne has become our first signing of the summer after the midfielder agreed a two-year deal with Blues.

Not a signing that will get people excited, but if he can do the dirty work in midfield then hopefully will be a good signing.

Missed the last 16-17 games of last season so lets hope he has been keeping himself fit.

Just the kind of player we need in midfield and stops Demi having to be used in midfield.

He did say as a defensive Midfielder he "likes the dirty side of the game" ! and getting stuck into tackles.. Dont have a problem with that and agree he could be whats needed . Genuine question though , why only 47 games in 2 seasons, does this relate to lockdown, injury, both?
