Echo News Jason Demetriou wants impressive display with Cyprus to boost his season at Southend United

It was reported that Milligan was one of several players who were not selected due to ‘minor injury issues’.

Interestingly Milligan played for us on the 13th Nov- the Australia game versus Jordan was 15th. He was fit on 13th to play for us and realistically would have had to have travelled by then if he was to play against Jordan. You are right he was stated as not available for Australia due to injury but suspect, as in many other cases (notably with a certain Mr. Ferguson), that a combination of player & manager felt he would be better in Southend on the pitch/on the training ground and a 'knock" provided the necessary cover.

Not to mention the 24 hour journey to Australia and wherever else.... Plus I think there are rules about if unavailable for country and pull out through injury you cant play the following club game or something....unsure exactly...

Maybe (although didn't apply for Fergie). All sorts of possible explanations- but officially he was not dropped but injured for the Australia/Jordan game.
