Christ. I loved to hate the guy. Absolute tragedy considering his age.

RIP Jeroen

Blimey,
Sort of brings all this depression into perspective.

Did this really need to get moved? People are far less likely to see it in here even with the re-direct in the other forum. I don't think anyone would object to this not being in 'Ex-Shrimpers' for a while...

Totally agree this should of stayed and if not pinned in the Shrimpers Chit chat forum.

RIP Jeroen, still have memories of his last minute goal against the Gills in 97/98.

**** me, what a shock.

I know everyone thought he was uttter $hit for us but I had a really good laugh with him when I met him in Marbella last year.

RIP big guy!

that's awful news, RIP Jeroen. I'm another one who wasn't a fan of him when he played for us, but he scored the odd cracker and you've got to hand it to a bloke who used to give his own team's fans as much abuse as they gave him...

RIP Jerome... agreed that he wasn't everyones favourite player but 39 is shocking... my thoughts are with his family

Was really sad to hear the news. I have a great memory of him scoring a superb individual goal at Milwall a few years back. I know he wasn't always popular amongst Southend fans, but I have never been one to get on a player's back, no matter how bad he is!

Would a minutes silence against Millwall be respected by the Millwall fans, or would it be better to hold it over to the Watford game?
