A Bit of Fun Jordan Spence

I usually steer well clear of rumours, however, because life as a Southend fan is so mind-numbingly boring at present on the transfer front, I thought I would pipe up and let you know that a couple of good West Ham friends have suggested that there are noises coming out of Upton Park that their big cb, Jordan Spence, is high on our wish list, but is, predictably, being chased by a number of other Clubs.

I believe he was a scorer for the Hamsters when they beat us 0-3 at RH in our last friendly...

He is an Essex lad though for what it is worth.

Jordan Spence is way, way out of our league mate. He's been on successful loan spells in the Championship, hasn't he? Plus he's a defender, which is the least of our worries.

He is, I believe, predominantly a right back, so could be useful....plus, far better than anything we have or are bound to acquire.

No chance, has been on loan successfully at championship sides. However I will ask his dad to see if he knows anything !!

I don't know about that. We haven't kept a clean sheet all pre season.

Could be something in this. Didn't play at all last season and when out on loan before that didn't get that many games. At 23, a full season in League Two might be preferential to sitting around not playing matches.

Phil Brown is a visionary. He played a million games at full back himself and is trying out a new formation :

Coker,Straker,Prosser + Barker at left back . White,Auger,Leonard + Spence at right back in front of Bentley with Eastwood up front and Laird in midfield


.....Should keep the oppositions' wingers quiet anyway !

He can also play Left Back ... but hes on Prem wages and would be great for a team like Peterborough or Ipswich , no way in hell he would come to League 2

He didn't play much games and he is at an stage where he need to play 40 plus matches in a full season or he end up at Chelmsford or Braintree in couple of years time!
