Probably one for our Glasgow-based Kit Professor, but I'll open this up to the floor....

How come so many teams this year have Umbro kits? Umbro used to do loads but have been slowly edged out of the market over the years. When Celtic and Chelsea dumped them, I think that left Everton as about the only top team still wearing Umbro.

Now loads of clubs are wearing Umbro - Blackburn, the Spammers, Sunderland, Wigan, Birmingham, Rangers, WBA and of course the Iraqi national side  .

Any reason behind this renaissance?

as you say James maybe they were fed up being forced out after so many years being the market leader so they've slashed their prices / offered better deals.
Or maybe it's just the new fabric technology - Climacool or whatever it's called

times have certainly changed with regards to Celtic and Rangers, it was nailed on every year - kit by Umbro, sponsorship by CR Smith lol

They're promoting themselves a lot more, and getting themselves into the Community a bit more.

They've struck a deal with all County FA's, where they supply kit, balls, equipment etc to the County FA's and to leading Clubs within those Counties (although the speed of service is laughable).

They've added more strings to their bow with the England deal - producing more leisurewear as well as providing footballs for the England side, the FA Cup and the Conference (sorry Blue Square Premier!).

Furthermore, although they can be a bit samey, their kits are generally of excellent quality and design.
