Left Backs

So I gather then you guys would not be happy if at the start of the season our no.1 LB was Herd?

I'd rather have Barrett at left back where his wrestling of players will concede free kicks instead of penalties and we can rebuild a solid core, hopefully containing Baldwin and somebody else.

Herd has the same problem as a lot of players, that being too lightweight. It is a physical division where players arent afriad to kick you. His long throw is a weapon but his defending has left a lot to be desired. Of course if we had a real experienced leader at the back a la Spinner, it would help a lot. Still would like to see someone a bit taller and stronger on the left though. Oh and Herds crossing is awful, someone with a good left peg and a decent free kick is imperative if Franno leaves.

I'd take Johnny as our first choice LB for next year for sure He needs some of the roids kightly tooked and he will be class.

He has a lot more to work on rather than just his strength.

I swear, if Herd hadn't come through our youth set up he'd have got the abuse the likes of Malone suffered.

Herd has potential, don't get me wrong, but defensively he is naive and doesn't offer enough going forward to cover over his defensive flaws unlike Francis on the other side.

Francis is a touch naive defensively, but his excellent attacking play makes up for it and Sankofa, whilst pants going forward, was a real steady eddy defensively. Unfortunately, Herd isn't either at the moment.
