Loanee Watch 2021-22

Fierce free kick? Perfectly taken corner? Get him back Kev!
You missed out the unstoppable shot and goal.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to go to the game, due to an influx of my nearest and dearest staying here over the holiday weekend. I'm having to have a long weekend without football anywhere. Things are so bad that I have to rely on The Zone for accurate information.

Friends who did go are raving about Ollie Coker and saying that he had an outstanding game.

Perhaps Kev will call him back but hopefully not until after next weekend. The poor Rocks badly need Ollie for the next couple of games.

Level 5
Josh Coulson played his second 90 minutes of the Easter period in a 1-0 defeat to Grimsby.

Level 6
Matt Rush was in the Chelmsford side for their Essex derby v Billericay. Billericay had Greg Halford who somehow kept Rush out of the side last season and Rush showed what a mistake that was by hammering in the opener. Rush was however subbed on 83 minutes with the score 1-1. Another ex-forward Simon Cox came on as a sub for Billericay two minutes later, just in time to watch Chelmsford grab a late winner.

Level 7
Terrrell Egbri was on the bench as Farnborough hosted Hartley Wintney. farnborough won 2-0 to keep their title hopes mathematically alive - although it would require them to beat the leaders Taunton 6-0 in their final game of the season and hope todays opponents pick up at least a draw v Hayes and Yeading.

John White was in the Wimborne back line as the already relegated side slumped to defeat again. They actually had an early lead before Poole equalised. White then scored a rare goal but Wimborne’s leaky defence (Poole also hit the crossbar twice) saw them turn a 2-1 lead into a 3-2 deficit. However in scoring Poole’s third just before half-time their goalscorer went into the crowd to celebrate, grabbing a plastic pint glass of beer and chucking it up in the air, for which he received a second yellow, leaving Wimborne to face 10 men for the second half. Early second half John White received his second booking (alas not for going into the crowd to get a pint) making it 10 a side and seemingly a sorry end to his professional career (can you be suspended for your own testimonial?). Without the man advantage Wimborne were unable to grab the equaliser and Town added a late 4th.

Eren Kinali played for Hendon but lasted only 2 minutes before being subbed.

Level 8
Isthmian North
Jimmy Wallace played for Witham against Tilly’s Heybridge with Witham desperately needing points to move out of the relegation places on the penultimate game of the season. A 2-2 draw saw them inch above Barking. They now need to beat bottom place Romford on the final day of the season to avoid automatic relegation.

Also at the bottom and needing points were 17th placed Great Wakering up against 19th Barking. A Wakering win would secure safety. No Arrowsmith again but Reeve and Crowhurst were in the line-up. Wakering fell behind after just 5 minutes but turned things around to win 2-1 which secured safety for Wakering. Well done to Luke Reeve, Jaden Crowhurst and Louis Arrowsmith for their part in keeping them up.

At the top end Miles Mitchell-Nelson was in the Canvey side that faced Grays at home. Canvey won 3-1 but they still needed Jon Benton’s Aveley to slip up v Tilbury to keep their title hopes alive…

The first mention of Benton was after about 25 minutes when he set up a goal but that was Aveley’s 4th. It finished that way and was all Aveley needed to be crowned champions. Congratulations to Jon Benton for his part in Aveley’s success.

AFC Sudbury were at Bury Town. No Callum Burkey but Cameron Brown was on the bench. He made an 89th minute sub appearance and was booked in the 95th minute as Sudbury edged an end of season snooze fest 1-0.

No Anyadike again for Hullbridge who clinched safety today.

Great to see Matt Rush scoring. He is now level in the goalscoring charts with Greg Halford in the NL South.

I was at the Chelmsford v Billericay game yesterday. Rush's finish was very good, he did everything right, great movement held the ball long enough to get his balance back and then dispatched it perfectly. He didn't really look dangerous at all other than that moment of brilliance though. Me and the guys I was watching with though MOTM was Tom Blackwell, young winger for Chelmsford, he was superb and assisted City's 2nd.

Simon Cox came on fore the last 10 but didn't get into the game and Anton was there watching.

Halford got fouled by the keeper and Billericay didn't get the pen, it was definitely a foul but it was embarrassing how long Halford was down pretending he was hurt. What was also unacceptable was the racist abuse the keeper got afterwards. It was a foul and the supporters had every right to be annoyed but racism is unacceptable.

Matt Rush’s goal is at about 1:45 in

Tonight saw Ollie Coker line-up for East Thurrock in a massive Isthmian Premier game as 19th East Thurrock travelled to 20th Cray Wanderers. Cray were only below Thurrock because of an earlier points deduction and a Cray win would take them back above them. Thurrock having looked dead and buried have had a remarkable turnaround but it wasn’t to continue as Cray were 3 up after an hour. Ollie Coker (always most likely to be the Rocks saviour) pulled one back on 72 minutes “scorching the net from distance” but was subbed with 10 minutes remaining. Wanderers then went onto score a 4th.

Josh Coulson scored for King’s Lynn with a header from a corner but they conceded an injury time equaliser to Dagenham in a 1-1 draw.

Level 6
Matt Rush started again for Chelmsford after his MoM display last time out as the Clarets hosted Slough. He was subbed with he score 1-1 on 85 minutes. It finished that way.

Level 7
Southern League Prem South
Eren Kinali played for Hendon and scored their second v relegated Meythr. Hendon strolled to a 6-0 victory and finish 16th. Merthyr finish second bottom.

Rob Howard and Terrell Egbri were both in the Farnborough side that took on Taunton. Egbri was subbed on 69 minutes. After he went off Taunton grabbed a winner in a 2-1 victory and were promoted. Farnborough finish 3rd and are in the play-offs.

John White wasn’t suspended after his sending off for relegated Wimborne’s visit to Chesham. With him in the defence they shipped 5 goals in a 5-0 defeat. They finish bottom.

Oli Coker played for East Thurrock against Horsham. They got off to a great start taking a first minute lead but Horsham equalised on the stroke of half-time. He was subbed with the score 2-2. Horsham went onto win 3-2 which relegated Thurrock.

Level 8

Jon Benton lined up for Champions Aveley aagsint Hullbridge. No Anyadike for Hullbridge. It finished goalless.

Cam Brown was on the bench for AFC Sudbury’s visit to Basildon.

No Miles Mitchell-Nelson for Canvey.

Jimmy Wallace played for Witham against Romford in front of 97 fans. He was booked on 43 minutes. Witham scored a 95th minute winner to triumph 3-2. I think that means Witham avoid automatic relegation and face a play-off

Luke Reeve and Jaden Crowhurst were in the Great Wakering side who faced Dereham away. Crowhurst set up their second and was booked on 63 minutes in a 3-1 victory.

Terrell Egbri was on the bench for Farnbrough against Met Police. No room for Rob Howard in their squad. Farmborough won in extra time after a 90th minute equaliser to book their spot in the final.

Level 8
Miles Mitchell-Nelson was on the bench for Canvey for their tie v Felixstowe and Walton. He wasn’t needed as Canvey won 3-1.

In non play-off action Eren Kinali started for Hendon against Brentford B. Brentford B won 3-0 on penalties after it finished 1-1 in 90 minutes so it was presumably some sort of London cup final game.

It’s strange, reading that and seeing players who people were clamouring to have thrown in to a relegation battle not so long ago, hardly ripping up trees at a lower level. I wonder how many of these will come good? Appreciate the updates, always interesting to see how loanees are faring ?

Interesting observation there @Leigh Seasider, and it epitomises ShrimperZone where we ALL think we are tactical football experts. Sometimes however, we couldn't find our arses in a bath when it comes to expert opinions good or bad. That's why we have professionals running the football side of our club. That said it's always great fun spouting bollocks as if it's true. Fact, end of.

Some sort of London cup final game? Only the final of The London Senior Cup.

One day, Eren Kinali will be able to tell his grandchildren that he took part in this prestigious competition.

Miles Mitchell-Nelson came on as a sub after 67 minutes to help Canvey clinch promotion. He entered with the score 1-1 and it stayed that way and it went all the way to extra time without conceding before the side Benno was managing until joining us in late October triumphed on penalties.

Players who were playing in league 1 when 3 years earlier in their development. On the bench 4 levels down. It’s like Watford fans screaming to get Lewis Gard on the pitch

Josh Coulson played in King’s Lynn’s 3-3 draw at home to Eastleigh. King’s Lynn took a 95th minute lead but Eastleigh scored a 101st minute penalty to equalise.

Matt Rush was subbed in the 79th minute with Chelmsford 2-0 down to Maidstone. Ex-Shrimper Jerome Binnom-Williams was in the Maidstone side. Maidstone made it 3-0 shortly afterwards although Chelmsford did manage a late consolation (and Maidstone then missed a penalty).

Jimmy Wallace lined up for Witham in their relegation play-off v Saffron Walden and scored their third as they secured their Isthmian North spot for next season with a 3-0 win. Well done Jimmy.

Maidstone champions of National League South and will be Southend's competitors next season. Might need to find a new pre season team to play now.
