Loanee Watch 2021-22

Kinali will be 22 this month. He started well in a league 2 divisions down and is now struggling. Suspect like Egbri he will be out in the summer

Level 5
Josh Coulson made his Kings Lynn debut and helped them keep a clean sheet in a 3-0 win v Weymouth. There will be tougher challenges than marking Brandon Goodship (who came on as a sub)

Level 6
NL South
Tommy Davis played for 19th placed Welling at Dartford. Spud’s side got off to a great start taking the lead against the 3rd place team in the 3rd minute. Dartford equalised in the 17th minute but parity only lasted for 4 minutes before Welling retook the lead. Dartford then equalised for a second time and it was 2-2 at the break. They held on until 15 minutes before the end and Dartford secured victory with a fourth 3 minutes from time.

Level 7

In the Southern League Premier South Kinali’s Hendon were at home to Hartley Wintney. After a goalless first half Hendon took the lead only for Hartley to score a late equaliser. Hendon though managed to score an even later winner.

Terrell Egbri got the start for leaders Farnborough at Gosport. They trailed 1-0 at half-time and Egbri was subbed. It didn’t reverse their fortunes and they lost 1-0.

No Jimmy Wallace or Reiss Chandler for Bishop’s Stortford who drew 3-3 at home to Corinthian Casuals in the Isthmian Premier. I note the Casuals scored a contentious penalty. What happened to them deliberately missing as it was too ungentlemanly to score one?

Elsewhere in the division Miles Mitchell-Nelson played for struggling East Thurrock at Lewes, who featured Michael Klass. They held out for half an hour before two goals in 4 minutes sunk them. They pulled one back early second half. Mitchell-Nelson was booked on 82 minutes and Lewes scored a late third which proved crucial when Thurrock scored a 90th minute penalty.

Level 8
Isthmian North

Jon Benton’s Aveley were at home to Bury Town. Benton nearly gave the leaders the lead after quarter of an hour, picking the ball up 30 yards from goal and driving at the defence before hitting the post. He did give them the lead though on the half hour mark and was then chopped down five minutes before the break for the penalty that gave them a 2-0 lead. Early second half they extended their lead from a Benton corner before adding a fourth from a - you’ve guessed it - Benton pass.

Second year scholars Luke Reeve and Jayden Crowhurst made their Great Wakering debuts at home to 8th placed AFC Sudbury, having just joined on work experience loans until the end of the season. Crowhurst was booked on 83 minutes but they earned a very creditable draw and a clean sheet.

In Southern League Central Jamie Grossart and Demaray Anyadike may still be on loan at Harlow who were at St Neots but I can never find teamsheets for them.

Turns out Jimmy Wallace wasn’t on the bench for Bishop’s Stortford as he’s dropped down a level to get more playing time. Along with Tommy Lambourne he’s joined Tilly’s old side Witham Town in the Isthmian North.

They played in Witham’s goalless draw v Barking. Lambourne was subbed after 57 mins. The draw keeps Witham 17th, a point above their opponents who occupy the last relegation place but have two games in hand.

Tendi Quamini is apparently on work experience loan at Sutton Common Rovers in the Isthmian South Central. He made his debut 14th Jan in a 1-0 defeat to Bedford Sport. He was subbed in the 83rd minute. He was then an unused sub in their match against South Park and then not involved at all in their last match. They were due to play Guernsey today.

Benton really seems to be pulling up sticks at Aveley, seems our most promising loanee.
He’s certainly doing the business but it is worth remembering he’s 2 or 3 years older than Tommy Davis and playing two levels lower. The level he’s at has just seen two sides both take two scholars from our Academy and put them straight into their first team.

Level 5

In the Conference it was consecutive clean sheets for Josh Coulson as he played all 90 minutes in Kings Lynn’s 0-0 draw at Grimsby.

Level 6
Terrell Egbri was on the bench for Farnbrough’s game at home to Chesham. Farnborough took the lead on the stroke of half-time. He came on with 3 minutes left to see out the 1-0 win.

Level 7
Eren Kinali played in Hendon’s 0-0 draw at Yate Town. He had a deflected shot save.

Harlow were at Biggleswade tonight and a team sheet was available (from Biggleswade not Harlow, obviously). No loanees involved. Have they all returned?

ANG joins Ebbsfleet on loan in the NL South.

Matt Rush joins Chelmsford in NL South for the rest of the season.

Rob Howard joins Egbri at Farnborough for the rest of the season as well.

Third-year scholar Tendi Quamina has joined Walthamstow in the Essex Senior League on a work experience loan.

I'd be surprised if we don't see a few more players who aren't close to the first team (Walsh and Phillips) and third year scholars

Current loanees (I think)

Level 5 NL
Josh Coulson (Kings Lynn)

Level 6
NLS
Matt Rush (Chelmsford)
Ashley Nathaniel-George (Ebbsfleet)
Tommy Davis (Welling)

Level 7
Southern League Premier Central
Terrell Egbri and Rob Howard (Farnbrough)
Eren Kinali (Hendon - is Bobby Unwin still there as well?)

Isthmian Prem
Miles Mitchell-Nelson (East Thurrock)
Reiss Chandler (Bishop’s Stortford) - is he still there?

Level 8
Isthmian North
Jon Benton (Aveley)
Jimmy Wallace and Tommy Lambourne (Witham)
Jaden Crowhurst and Luke Reeve (Great Wakering)

Level 9
Essex Senior League
Tendi Quamini (Walthamstow)

How does it work with loanees at part time clubs. Do they still train with Southend on the days that the loaning club don't train? How many evenings do most of the part time clubs train?

Generally yes and sometimes they play in U23s for us if it's a work experience/youth loan. Two training sessions per week most common as far as I'm aware.

I know Demary Anyadike and Ergis Shala were at Harlow earlier this season but it's anyones guess if they are still out on loan

Level 5
Josh Coulson’s resurgent King’s Lynn were at home to tumbling Altrincham. They conceded the first goal of Coulson’s loan spell (after 225 minutes of clean sheets) in first half injury time. It was the only goal of the game.

Level 6
Matt Rush was on the bench for Chelmsford (alongside ex-Shrimper Mickey Spillane) against Hampton and Richmond. He made his debut on 90+2 minutes in a 1-0 win.
Tommy Davis started for Welling at home to Chippenham. After a goalless first half 19th place Welling took a shock lead against a Chippenham side in the play-off places and managed to hold onto win.
ANG was on the bench for Ebbsfleet as he’s eased back. He came on at ht with them 1-0 down to Slough and they equalised almost immediately. Parity was short-lived with Slough regaining the lead soon after. He drew the first yellow of the match on the hour when he was scythed down. ANG himself was booked for a foul on 74 minutes and volleyed just wide on 86 minutes. Ebbsfleet lost 2-1.

Level 7
Terrell Egbri started for Farnborough at home to Yate. Rob Howard was on the bench for the 1st v 6th clash. Farnborough started well taking the lead on 14 minutes but Yate equalised 10 minutes later. Egbri was subbed on 65 minutes. Farnborough went onto lose 2-1.

Miles Mitchell-Nelson was subbed after 81 minutes of East Thurrock’s creditable 0-0 draw with Margate.

Eren Kinali’s Hendon were up against the Met. The killers of innocent Brazilian electricians took the lead just before ht and held on almost as long as Cressida Dick to win 1-0.

Level 8
Jon Benton played for Aveley in their top of the table clash with Canvey. Mark Bentley’s former side took the lead midway through the first half. Canvey fought back to draw 1-1.
Jimmy Wallace started for Witham but no Tommy Lambourne. Witham lost 1-0.
Jaden Crowhurst and Luke Reeve played for Great Wakering in a clash of the strugglers.
Demaray Anyadike appeared to be a 75th minute sub for Hullbridge. Great Wakering took a 4th minute lead. Jaden Crowhurst was subbed on 88 minutes and Hullbridge equalised on 90+3 minutes.

Level 9
Walthamstow won 3-0 but don’t know whether Tendi Quamini played.

Quamini was a very late sub

Looking at the Harlow website, they don't post lineups but have player stats. I don't think we have any players there at the moment, but Anyadike played 17 games with 4 assists and 1 "star player".

Great Wakering and East Thurrock were rained off but Welling were in action. Tommy Davis, who made the NL South team of the week, was at the heart of their defence against Dulwich Hamlet, who included a couple of ex-Shrimpers in Jordan Green and Andre Blackman in their line-up. Dulwich won 3-1 to go 6th. They scored on 15, 31 and 51 minutes before Welling got a consolation penalty. Those who remember Blackman won’t be surprised to hear he was subbed after 50 minutes.

Surprised Green is that low though. Looked to have something about him before his injury, but if I remember there were questions on his attitude as he was sent back.

He actually briefly retired after being released by Barnsley as he 'fell out of love' with the game.

He's playing at this level more to do with mental health rather than ability.

In case anyone wants to make a late decision to see a game

NLS
Matt Rush gets the start for Chelmsford at Dorking
ANG starts for Ebbsfleet at Havant & Waterlooville
Tommy Davis’s Welling are at Slough

Southern League Prem South
Kinali’s Hendon are at Taunton Town
Egbri and Howard’s Farnborough at home to Dorchester

Miles Mitchell-Nelson’s East Thurrock are at Hornchurch. No MMN today. I thought today was due to be the last day of his loan spell.

Isthmian North - Witham are off
Crowhurst and Reeve start for Great Wakering at home to Stowmarket
Demaray Anyadike makes his full debut for Hullbridge at Romford.

Essex Senior League
Walthamstow (Tendi Quamini) are at Sporting Bengal.
