Manager Sacking and Appointment Thread

Why shouldn’t he have got the job? He was a good up and coming manager. He had done wonders at Swansea and Brighton. Experience as a manager overseas, what just because he’s not a big name and had loads of trophies to his name he shouldn’t be in with a shout?

The difference is, if you choose a manager like him you need to give him time. Look at Arteta at Arsenal, he could’ve been sacked a couple of times early on.
No, it was a step too high too quick for him. Todd Boehly doesn't yet understand Chelsea.

Chelsea, the opposite end of the spectrum to our destitute embargoed Blues. Imagine signing eight players in the transfer window, all that money being splashed around, most of them signed by the owner without having consulted the manager and with no idea what to do with them now they've got them. Just as much a basket case as Blues in an entirely different way

Now Frank Lampard is set to become interim manager at Chelsea until the end of the season - crazy stuff.
Assuming that they've got someone lined up for the summer (Nagelsmann maybe) it kind of makes sense. Lampard might be a poor manager but you aren't going to get a world class manager willing to come in for 2 months and Lampard has a lot of goodwill with their fans.

Why not get a new manager in now though if that’s the case. Get them to bed in and assess the playing staff.

I mean for Lampard it’s a no brainer but it’s a puzzling one really, Chelsea sacked the bloke for not being good enough .. (different regime I know but he’s hardly gone on and done amazing things).

Lampard now confirmed as interim manager until the end of the season. Great track record previously and a Chelsea legend so all will be well!!

Chelsea rushed the appointment of a new manager with Potter and it was a disaster, they likely want a more thorough vetting process this time before giving someone else a 6 year contract. If Nagelsmann is their main target he may want some time off as well, Bayern only sacked him a couple of weeks ago.

Can see Potter going to Spurs or Leicester. Both him and Rodgers have enough credit in the bank.
Potter, absolutely no chance. Rodgers only did well for one big club, Celtic, when Rangers were in decline. Mickey Mouse would have guided them to the Trophies. Spurs also like Managers with a personality. Rodgers shows none.

Boehly hasn’t a clue, doesn’t understand the game one bit and doubt he ever will. The sooner he (and his backers) go the better.
Bah!, these American owners, what do they know about our game. Oh, hang on a minute, we could be talking about a certain club from South East Essex in a few months time.
