Phil wouldn't pay him what he thought he was worth so he has signed for relegated Chesterfield on a one year deal.

Can't imagine there would be many complaints if he was starting here on Saturday so surprised he's gone that low. As Lenny says, he'll run rings around defenders but will be interesting to see if his goal tally increases or not.

Everyone else's loss is Chesterfield's gain. I hope he has a fabulous season with them. I doubt the goals tally will improve by much though.

One of my work colleagues is a Chesterfield fan, and he is over the moon about Marco joining them. Martin Allen must be doing something right up there! Was very sorry to see MAF leave, but wish him all the best and I know that Chesterfield fans will appreciate him.

Came on yesterday as a sub and soon after Chesterfield get a penalty - perhaps it is just co-incidence but I would like to know.

Used to go to see games where ex-players were (remember going to Darlington v Lincoln many moons ago for that reason) and I would happily pop into the Sheffield Road ground if I was in the area just to see MAF again.

According to the Chesterfield fans that went to Ebbsfleet, he came on in the 56th minute and changed the game for them with his experience and ability. I reckon they will love the bloke as much as we did by the end of the season. A certain Mr Zavon Hines scored their penalty for a 1-0 away win.

Yes - I saw that. Another reason to pop in and see them play.

Scored last night apparently. Not spoken to my colleague yet, but he was at the game so will get his take soon. Looks like Marco is making his presence felt!

He scored a pen.

Really sorry that we couldn't afford to keep MAF. His fitness level was tremendous last year and his cultured play was missed v. Doncaster. I'm sure he'll do well at Chesterfield.

SCP's biggest mistake so far not giving MAF another contract. Oozes class and experience with his movement, tricky feet and his ability to bring other players into the game. Would also have been a great role model for the younger players

I agree with this 100%, in the end I think it came down to budget, I hope that when he hangs up his boots we offer him a coaching role

Although Chesterfield lost to Salford yesterday 2-3 it wasn't through lack of ex Southend goal scorers. Marco scored his second of the season and Hinds grabbed the other.
