Perhaps went down a bit theatrically for the ref, but a shirt pull is a shirt pull
Therein lies the problem.
Refs know the 'extra' fall; like when two legs go at the same time usually splayed. No one gets tripped like that.
Worse still, some players; not so much Bridge, get known for it. Stokes last week, comes to mind.

A clear and obvious tug of Bridgey’s shirt.
...and it happens at every corner too.
It's almost as if a cross or centre from a dead ball is free rein to grab as much shirt as you can whether defender or attacker.
It has to be five yards from the ref's nose and accompanied by machine gun fire to earn a pen!

Looks like a recreation of Bambi on ice.

And so is a flailing arm. In summary no chance of getting to the cross, made an absolute meal of minimal contact, up like a shot to appeal. Most telling is his two nearest colleagues made a token effort at appealing, realised it was Bridge and got on with the game.

As stated before I really like Bridge but if he cut out these antics and was more incisive with crosses (no need to beat the world) he’d be a L1 winger.

Players wouldn’t need to sell the foul, if the refs and their assistants did their jobs.

Week in, week out you’ll see Cardwell/Crowther/Kensdale/GSM etc go up for a corner only to have their shirts almost ripped off their body. And yet whilst this is visible to thousands in the stadium, a team of match officials, literally yards away, fail to see it. Always.
