Memorable Games that will never make a top 10 list !

Still Loves Emma Bunton. Roy McDonough is God!
Thought I'd be a bit different as it is very easy to churn out the same old favourites. Mine for starters.

Blackpool vs Southend - The Messiah returns. A great day out and my boy enjoyed sitting at the front top of the double decker coach.

Away at Oldham

Emptied fruit machine in the pub
Was given a comp ticket
Won the prediction competition on the coach
Came home with about £40 more than I left with

Oh, and we won too.....

1-0 Southend vs Darlington in first game of the season, Webb III era. Sergio got sent off due to Conlon's play acting but we battled back and with Mark Rawle slotting a lovely late goal to win it for us, I honestly thought we were going to walk the league!

southend v cheltenham , last game of season 2000. jones scored in last minute to deny cheltenham a playoff place, we celebrated like we won the league even though we were **** that (and most) seasons

Preston away last season won 3-2 scored 2 goals in the last few minutes against a decent Preston team. Played some great football and looked like a promotion contender team that day. Also flew up there and woke up at 4am didnt get back to midnight. Fantastic day out, then the same eleven played at home to Barnsley the following week and we lost 3-1 and looked like a park team. Funny old game Football.

september 9 1996. hadn't been watching southend for long and we beat bolton 5-2 at home. that was the season they got promoted with 98 points and first team to score 100 golas in that league i think. Didn't really mean anything to us just will never forget that game!

Great shout that.

Jeroen Boere (RIP) taking the **** out of the Bolton defence!

:hilarious:

Roots Hall about four or five seasons back, mid February minus two degrees and 0.0 and 1900 fans and the game was poor to say the least

Anyone else there from to days " faithful supporters "

Away at Chesterfield. First ever away game.

Fairly ok game (we won) and a real insight into the league we were in. Any grief Roots Hall gets is totally unwarranted when you see grounds like this. The toilet was a wall, the sink was a tap, there was no food for the fans, it was all uncovered outside and unevenly terraced, one of the 3 home stands had big condemned signs all over it and yet it was an amazing trip away. The noise we created was amazing...

Let's not turn this into one of those "I'm more loyal than you" threads.

These days we have faithful supporters too, just more of them.

Was that the 0-0 draw against York? Probably the most boring match I've ever been to and, second only to MK Dons away a couple of years ago, the coldest I've ever felt at a football stadium. I'd driven all the way from Northampton to see the game, too.

Getting back into the car and switching the heaters on full blast was by far the most satisfying moment of the night.

ive got another one. Derby county away 27.11.93. Believe it or not even at the tender age of 7 that was my 13th away game.

it was also the first time i actually saw southend win away!!!

the final score was 3-1.

Spanking Brentford 4-1 at home in the League One promotion season, best performance of the season awesome atmosphere and watching half their fans leave with about 15 minutes left just made it even better!

Southend 5 QPR 0 live in front of the TV Cameras.

Also this match we had some great banter with John Gregory, where after our first goal where Royce fooked up, Gregory asked us if we want him back! :hilarious: :D

03/02/96 - Southend United 2 - 0 Millwall. The best performance I ever saw from a Southend United side. I think it was one of Chris Powell's last games for us (it may even have been his last game) and we were never the same team after he left. Millwall's fans gave our team a standing ovation at the final whistle.

05/03/96 - Charlton 0 - 3 Southend United. My first ever away league game. I thought they'd all be like this....

Yeovil (A) League 1 promotion year, can't remember the result, but we won, and their mascot walked into the post that held up the net right in front of us, Goater let a player of theirs fall over one of ours (Spinner, I think?), and their fans walked out over the last 15 minutes.

Saturday 20TH Nov 1971 ,F.A. Cup .Southend 1 Aston Villa 0 .Att 16,929

Amazing and well deserved result .
Me and a few other kids run onto the pitch to celebrate when Billy Best scores ( was common in those days of no stewards and coppers that would tell you to get back on the terrace in a nice manner ) .I run up to my idol and he lifts me up and we both salute the North Bank just before I was crushed by the other joyful players .
Magic .
