Mobile Phone Security

OK, I have been having a bit of trouble with the good lady recently, she thinks I'm playing away from home, which I am most definitely not but I am getting rather explicit text messages from an old flame who wants to meet for some fun.

Now, I tend to delete most of these texts as soon as I get them, although I've been known to reply on the odd occassion (usually beer fuelled). My other-half confronted me about these messages & I denied everything. Now, my phone never leaves my side & I've taken to switching it off when I go to bed so she can't be checking the inbox & outbox. I also take my unopened bill to work with me where I keep them in my desk drawer.

She reckons that there are ways & means for suspicious people to hack the profile of other people's mobiles to gain access to their phonebook, messagefile, call register etc. I'm not 100% sure of this, can any techy-person on here confirm or deny whether she's right or if she's just trying to scare me into coming clean ? ? ? (yes, I know in my mind I've not really done anything wrong but in her's if I admit to texting my "needy" ex I am in deep trouble!!!)

Of course there are ways. Mobile cos would have built them in their software/hardware for data recovery to aid the police with enquiries etc.

However, I'd be amazed if the man on the street would have enough savvy to work it out.

Solution, get a new phone! One she doesnt know about

As Naps says, the average bloke on the street wouldn't be able to get such information.

I'd suggest "loosing" your phone and just get a new one.

It's possible for I can't say who, to turn your phone on when it's switched off, just by the technology they have at their disposal. It's also possible for the same people to track your phone exactly where it is, when it's switched off, as well as check every possible record of your phone, just like that.

It can also track where you are when you made a call, even if you werent under any surveillance when the call was made.

By going all defensive you'll just make her suspicious. Bluff and make a point of leaving your phone on and lying about. She'll think that you couldn't possibly be that brazen if you had anything to hide. In fact if you challenge her to check your phone, she'll be far too proud to check as she'll assume you've already deleted all the incriminating messages.

Meanwhile you can carry on with your prolific away form.
