Hey,
If this doesn’t interest you then don’t worry but I’d just like to write a little seeing as I’m now coming up to 1,000 posts on here!
Firstly, looking back on when I registered (9th August 2007 apparently) I recall reading through threads beforehand without signing up, just to gage some general opinions on Southend United subjects etc. and I guess was a bit worried of being struck down on my opinion if I were to.
Then, if I remember rightly, my first post was linking to a video I’d taken of the half time challenge where somebody actually hit the bar from the half way line! Anyone remember that..? Ever since then, I quickly became accustomed to such Shrimperzone delights as the regular ‘fish-pun’ threads, ridiculous stories in the pub section, interesting polls and general banter between members.
Some other highlights have been designing avatars and images with other ‘zoners, which was really nice to receive compliments and words of encouragement, talking about and sharing Football Manager views, taking part in the Prediction League last season (until I kept forgetting towards the end) and generally getting to know other Sufc supporters around the ground and the world, especially DtS and the others sitting in the South Upper.
I believe that I’ve learnt a lot about people’s opinions and the majority’s feelings about the club and life in general, and it is very refreshing to have such a balanced, popular forum to go to whenever on the Internet!
I even remember one time, when I probably felt the lowest I’d ever been (typical whining teenagers, eh) I posted something stupid about how rubbish I felt. And fred_holm and a few others replied just telling me to cheer up, a bit sad I understand, but that really did cheer me up… There are a lot of great people on here that I would hopefully like to get to know further, maybe next year if I can keep going to more away games and have a drink or two, as well ;) I only found out that I know OBL a lot more than I would have thought so a little while ago, too!
Anyway, what I wanted to say is thanks to everyone, for making someone my age so welcome and for making it such an interesting place to look through on the internet..
Up the Blues!
Cheers,
Adam
