Mick, why is the height of the referee mentioned so often in these reports as a precursor to card count? Are we seriously suggesting short refs are different?
 
Certainly was. Ian McKechnie returned for his last three matches before being replaced by the tremendous Trevor Roberts.

Certainly WASN'T,Mick-I think you may well have witnessed his other 4 appearances in the recently much-discussed(another thread) 1967-68 season.

Indeed. It was Ray White's last match for a couple of years plus, not his final game. He hung around as reserve for all that time and was rewarded with his final four appearances in that 1967/8 season.

Yes they're different - they're shorter !

Seriously, some might. I wouldn't necessarily.

I use it in a descriptive, rather than pejorative, sense. If he were particularly fat/thin or bald/hairy, even black, I would mention it. Mr Stroud's main distinguishing feature is his (lack of) height.

You're not short by any chance ?
