This is a replacement thread for the other one accidentally deleted by one of my learnèd colleagues, so you'll have to cast your votes again!

After the last game against a team we've never played before, this Saturday sees us playing a team we've faced 56 times before - the oldest professional club in the world, Notts County.

We haven't played them for nearly 17 years though, as this is their third season at National League level and prior to that we actually swapped places with them between Leagues one and two twice (once in each direction!).

They have adapted to life at this level much better than we have (so far) and reached the play-offs in their first two seasons and are clinging on to the last play off place at the moment.

Their last 6 results have been pretty decent with only one defeat (Eastleigh), a couple of draws (Boreham Wood and Bromley) and three wins (Daggers, Solihull and Grimsby).

In 6'2" centre forward, Kyle Wootton, they have a proven goalscorer at this level and so our defence will have to be a bit more on their mettle than against Maidenhead.

Given the seemingly ubiquitous presence of the Congolese soft drink, King Kev is going to have to shuffle the existing pack of players, it would seem. Let's hope he can inspire them to a better performance than the insipid one on Tuesday night.

You know the drill by now, starting XI and predicted result please!

If he can get properly fit I think Ogogo can be a good player for us but constant injuries not helping.

Arnold
Howard white lopata Ralph
Ferguson brunt ogogo
Walsh Murphy Dennis

Dalby not offering much
Push the wide players more forward stretching defence, offering forward support to Murphy
Utilise full backs for more width
Make the most of Brunt in Cm
2 more defensive mids to protect defence
3 mids help numbers in midfield where we are at our weakest

The team will be average no matter selection or configuration.
As long as it contains Arnold, Ralph, Brunt and Murphy, there is a vestige, and I mean vestige of hope.

What interests is whether we play with spirit?
That flat insipid effort against Maidenhead was astonishing. Here was a side ready to be taken to the cleaners, and yet they did that to us in the second half.

Maybe, this is a free-shot sort of game, and if so, it eases the pressure?
Even so, it will be one of the results of the day if we sneak a win.

It'll be my first game at Meadow Lane since we lost 6-2 there in September '87 (as part of that horrific losing run in Dick Bate's brief reign). I'll be delighted if we can come away with a better result this time around.

I think an early trip to 'Ye Olde Trip' is required in order to soften the blows that will undoubtedly be coming our way. Quite looking forward to it in a perverse kind of way.
