Post-Match Thread and Ratings Oldham FC 3-2 Southend Utd

View attachment 37248
I took this especially for RHB because I know he likes my hat.

Great support today but we did go a bit quiet when their third goal went in. Built it up again towards the end but poor old Gus was shattered by then and couldn't pass to save his life.

I suppose we should have tried to park the bus after going 2-1 up, something that our defence used to be quite good at. But I'm pleased that we pushed on seeking a third, and we almost got it too. Has Kev changed his mindset I wonder?

Anyway, that's done and dusted. We go again next season and will be in much better shape after a full pre-season and with some new players.

Enjoy your holidays lads and do us even prouder next year.
Excellent. Is it a Tilley @Barling Magna?

On the train home, gutted but proud of the club, the players, the management, those behind the scenes and the supporters. Agree that it was one period of extra time too many and the players were shattered and error prone.

All to do again next season. Still, it’s nice to see some old friends on here again who were strangely absent during all the recent positivity. I feel a little break from the Zone coming on…

Up the Shrimpers!

I'm telling myself, and @OverseasshrimperJr that if we went up this season, it would have been a season too soon. I'm sticking to it.
I agree with it being a bit soon after the turmoil, but what a cracking season! If we'd gone up I don't think we'd struggle, but the team is still building with some obvious additions to be made. However, if we're in the EFL we'd attract better players and with EFL money on board. My fear though is we might lose our best to EFL teams. Aggh...conflicted, but yeh take your point.

It felt like one game too much. But the fans were brilliant, the atmosphere amazing. The team gave 100% but it wasn’t enough against an Oldham side who were just that bit better than us. Special mention to Harry Taylor who I thought was magnificent. Good to meet so many friends I’ve not seen for years. Here’s to next season.
