I thought it was an interesting choice when he picked Tommy to start with as they'd never worked together before. Maybe the relationship just wasn't working, maybe Tommy didn't like being a number 2 after previously being boss, who knows.

Did Sturrock pick him? It seemed to me at the time to be two individual appointments by the Club rather than TW being PS's choice.

Excuse me if I refuse to believe anything posted on here until it's confirmed on the OS.

If I believed the rumours posted on here, not only would we have boasted a team including Matt Lockwood (x37) Stan Collymore (x12) Freddy Eastwood (x89) two years ago, but we'd also be out of business playing in a triangular stadium in Canvey.

You dont have to believe it. I'd rather hear rumours than gag people from revealing them even if they do turn out to be off the mark. It's not exactly hurting anyone is it?

Things move fairly quickly in football.....One day a member of the board leaks out information to a fan, that fan posts it on SZ, but then a board meeting takes place an hour later within SUFC and they all decide to change their mind....The information is now out of date, but its not the fans fault, is it?

Your prerogative. However I would not personally use that abject error-ridden medium as the definitive version of what's what.

Depends entirely on the rumour. Tilson chose to comment on rumours about his interest in Scott McGleish shortly after taking the reins here and it hurt our chances of signing him, as it alerted Col Ewe of his availability. There've also been a handful of posters on here spreading rumours for another party, but that's a whole other story.

You'll excuse me if I'm more inclined to believe official channels, than the usual "my dad's mate's uncle's cat's brother heard..." tittle-tattle.

Plenty of rumours get spoken of as if absolute fact though.

Delighted he has gone. There just seemed to be a cloud of negativity surrounding him. Next up Mr Sturrock, please. :smiles:

I am not fussed about Widderington going as he seems to ooze negativity but sorry can't agree about PS..Still think he will get us to where we need to be givien time.

Indeed. I can't fathom the sheer level of negativity towards PS ever since SZ has returned to the airwaves. It's no coincidence that the game he's been able to field a strong side is the one where we've returned to winning ways.

Well let the spectulation begin, i'm sure over the next few days many more names are going to be thrown into the hat and rumours/facts are going to be flying around as much as i love the Chris (wiggle it) Powell rumour the fact that Leicester City have apparently turned down Newcastles approch to assist Pardew makes him seem unlikely, my money is on the Coughlan promoted to #2 rumour and then maybe another player coach role how about Paul Wotton currently on loan at Oxford.

We've got no money, probably have to pay off Widders, so it'll be someone already on board. Step up Ricky Duncan.

Glad he's gone. Annoying little oik. Negative, always shouting. I don't think it's a coincidence that the team gave their best performance in months last night without him there. I'd imagine that they felt like they could play with the freedom that comes with not having somebody berate you for 90 minutes from the touchline.

Anyone else think its a bit of a coinsidence that Blackburn sack their manager and the next day Widdrington is gone. Really ****es me off how the big clubs try and get out of the compensation payments.

I know Blackburn have mega rich owners but they didnt fancy their chances at a tribunal obviously.

You appear to have mis-spelt Bristol Rovers

4. Coughlan becomes assistant manager and Widdrington's wages are spent on a new Bentley (or on the basis of what we were probably paying him, refuelling the 'old' one.)

For a second there I was thinking "Mark Bentley" and had visions of Luggy's master plan being the signing of a tall right-sided no-nonsense midfielder with (if one of our comrade's monikers is to be believed) and "absurd gait"!

well done to Southend blue then for starting a latest rumour thread, that actually turned out to be true! (is this a first?)

It was SouthendBlue who announced our defensive line-up and the return of Herd, yesterday morning.......

Seeing that he was spot on with that gave him more credence, in my mind, when he broke the story of Widdrington's departure. Sounds like a poster who has VERY good connections.
Just checked on his posts to see that he also broke news of Herd training with Crewe with the possibility of a loan move in October.......some one a friend of Johnny?????
