Paul Newman RIP

Very true. There is no way that Joanne Woodward will be married to one of today's stars and if even is she does it'll never last 50 years.

Unfair to compare a yesteryear relationship in that sort of environment.

The trappings, media spotlight and relentless attempts to wreck a celebrity's life (because it makes a goof headline) was no were near as intense, thier live were far more private than thier there modern day equivalents.

Paul Newman was married for 9 years prior to his marriage to Joanne Woodward and Mrs Woodward had also previously been engaged to someone else, both relationships did not survive the life they lived within and if they were living during today's times would probably have been plastered all over the red tops. Especially having 3 children from his first marriage of which his son died of a drugs overdose.

Sad news.

I think Mark Rawle and Barrington Belgrave let him down in the goal stakes. The whole Graeme Jones disaster was then end of the line IMHO.

I dunno Dave, how many husbands did Marilyn and Liz Taylor get through?

To be fair though Paul there is always an exception to the rule that one can highlight in any single situation, but on the whole, celebs of yesteryear had a far easier time of it regards being hounded by the press/Media.

They spent their own dough to get here, and they came here to see us! All right, let's show 'em what we got, guys! Get out there on the ice and let 'em know you're there. Get that ****in' stick in their side. Let 'em know you're there! Get that lumber in his teeth. Let 'em know you're there!

I'll always remember him for the time he went to the players party dressed as Buzz Lightyear.

RIP
