Comment from someone on their forum who isn't bothered he's gone, a couple of criticisms that sound very similar to his time with us:

As harsh as it would appear from the outside given a third placed finish, undoubtedly for me the correct decision. The final two games of the tenure summed up with bizarre changes to go with the bizzare pre and post matches.

I toyed with posting a really detailed summising of my thoughts at the start of the week but held back simply because I rarely get to see us in person now. What I did discuss with friends was my complete lack of faith in PB's ability to do a squad rebuild this summer.

What we see these days is a top 10 and a middle 10 which is interchangeable from the bottom of the top and the top of the middle if that makes sense - attributed significantly in my opinion to the growth of the hybrid model.

A bad season previously as a FT club would still see you ok, now you're at the mercy of these hybrids and it's mid table mud.

With PB's propensity for the aging, experienced guys, there was no faith for me that he would be able to rebuild successfully. We would be more likely to see a 36 year old Jamille Matt come in because he's ex-EFL rather than a 22 year old hotshot from Corby by the name of Fletcher Toll who had 32 goals in 44 this campaign.

Of course, now we wait for the new man to come in the door and of course, in six months time we could be reflecting on this as "better the devil you know than the devil you don't"

It's a signal of intent though, and rarely seen decisiveness. I wonder if the club had a break clause at the end of year 1 if certain criteria weren't met, where we could terminate for a percentage of the compensation owed for year 2

Unduly harsh I feel.

Went on a run of 9 wins, 2 draws and 1 defeat in league games scoring 36 goals, conceding 7 (not including their 2-1 loss to Chester in the Play-offs)

Not privy to transfer budget so can't judge fully as don't know what tools he had been given to ensure an immediate bounce back.

He is a complete bellend so very likely I’d say

He actually isn’t.

Whether you rate him as a manager or not is one thing, but PB is a very engaging, and actually quite funny, individual when away from football.

I played in a Meet The Blues Day at B & L when he was in charge. I played on the other team in goal, and he jokingly offered me a trial after that. Still waiting on that phone call…
