I visited the Bay Museum at Thorney Bay, Canvey.

I wasn't quite sure what expect but the places is stuffed with WWI and WWII memorabelia and well worth a visit if you are into that sort of thing.

I suspect it is probably one of the largest collections of assault weapons on the island.

The building also has a fascinating history as a degaussing station.

Can anyone recommend any local places of interest that for whatever reason appear to fly beneath the radar?

I was selling Leigh to a mate yesterday for a weekend break (seems like I've already convinced his partner).Amazing how many non-locals don't know about it.(Don't think Paul Theroux did us any favours in his Kingdom by the Sea,which started (and ended) with The Foresters on Southend seafront.
