Port Vale - Official Match Thread

Never thought I'd hear myself say this but cheers Orient. That'll put a downer on Rovers for Tuesday.

Good result. Would've prefferred 7-4 though :hilarious:

Great Result :-) everyones a winner.... well done to the 400 Shrimpers at vale park as well....

Can enjoy the Pint tonight.... going to wind up those Hamsters tonight I reckon :-)

3rd sounds pretty good at the moment. bring on bristol on tuesday. will hopefully be able to go to this one depending on whether I can get an hour off work.

A decent result but nothing more. We sounded very average on the radio and didnt deserve to win really. Still good to see the boys show a bit of grit, last year we would of lost 3-2. On to brizzle, that will be even tougher, and we will need to up our game alot to get anything out of it.

I have always been of the opinion that performances mean **** all, results are the only thing that matters in football.

Any win away from home is more than a decent result, regardless of the perfomance. Sides who win away games regularly are bound to be up there at the end of the season - you will always be up against it, being barracked by the home fans (who sounded quite intimidating on the radio today), and having a ref who fell for Vale players falling over all the time didn't help. If it was the same result and performance at home, I'd've been disappointed. But away? More then decent.

Wonderful result today, Vale park is hard enouhg to go to, but having lost their manager they were well up for it. Some great early saves from Collis set us up to go and grab a couple of goals and then defend well, all is good!!

Yep once again a small home crowd of only 3,500 making some noise. Come on Southend fans our next 2 home crowds won't be massive but lets try & create a better atmosphere at home matches.
