Has the club captain been announced for the new season? If it goes to Phillips from Barker, that'll be a sign. Seems like all three are injury-prone though, so am sure there'll be plenty of match time for all three of them. And am more than happy with Prosser as back-up too.

Not yet no, and Im guessing it wont be Barker as I expect our first choice pairing will be Phillips and Cresswell. Whether Phillips gets it or Timlin is another thing. The injury prone issue may decide it.

Would expect him to go out on loan this season and decide at the end of the season (when his contract is up IIRC) if he is worth keeping or not.

Good point - whilst I dislike the loan system, a few games for a Conference side (say) might be just the ticket.

There will be a period of transfer market open after friendlies and start of season, other teams will put players out for loan from upper leagues; why not keep some budget and assess what players we have and need and then what is available?
