All religions are Man made. To make them more believable in the old times, most involve the person that made them up saying he is just a messenger from an almighty power, God/Allah, after all, even in those times it would be hard to believe if he said he was the God. They all promise great things after death, along with an after life if you become a believer. They all threaten you with damnation or a type of hell if you don't believe. They all set down rules that you should live your life by, this is of course the way the originator of the religion, or those that have added to it over the years, would like you to follow.
Some were bestowed with gifts and animals and became rich overnight when believed to be a messenger.

Devadasis in India, made up a religion that gave him the right to have sex with young girl virgins when they had their first period. This is still going strong today, but now the first time goes to the highest bidder, and then the girl is a full time prostitute, working for her family.
When Men make up a new cult or sect, it nearly always means he can have sex with anyone and any age among his followers.

So you see, the people that make these things up, always want something.

Why are you bringing Methodists into it? They are a Protestant sect and no doubt would see the Pope as the devil made flesh. As Pubey said, there's a lot to criticise of the incumbent Pope.

He got a lot of **** done in such a short time. What a guy:

1) Protecting and excusing paedos
2) Speaking out against stem cell research
3) Telling people condoms spread AIDS
4) Actively opposing gay relationships
