I'm sorry, I just think it's in extremely poor taste. I despise Arthur Scargill, Derek Hatton and George Galloway but I won't be celebrating when any of them pass over.
Agree 100%, Galloway is a vile person, those idiots in Brixton partying,doubt any of them either a) were born when Thatcher was in power or b) have a job (and are still probably blaming her for that fact). Soap-dodging *****.
Whether or not you think Thatcherism was on balance a good or bad thing you have to see that Thatcher's policies actually destroyed some peoples lives. Why should those people show her any respect?

Interesting aside, pit closures under two Prime Minister's;
Maggie Thatcher: 146 (173,000 jobs lost)
Harold Wilson: 406 (315,000 jobs lost)
Also worth noting IMO, that Wilson's reign was shorter than Thatcher's and that he was a suspected Communist sympathiser. I wonder why the hard left never attacked him over pit closures...
I'm not aware of any "faux" moral high ground, I certainly wasn't jumping for joy when he died or Sadam for that matter, just felt relief for the innocent people who suffered in a far greater way than anyone here did under Thatcher. Celebrating the death of anyone doesn't sit comfortably with me, that's probably because underneath everything, I still have Christian values at heart.The faux-moral high ground about celebrating is death is funny. I'm sure many whinging about people being pleased at Thatcher's demise were equally delighted at the death of Bin Laden.

How did her policies destroy people's lives? Were ex-miners/steelworkers/commies immediately rendered unemployable because their previous place of work was closed or downsized. I have been made redundant twice, and went on to procure another job elsewhere. I suppose I could have sat on my arse and complained like a whiny little bitch that life was unfair, but I had kids to feed. I consider that to be my responsibility, rather than the responsibility of the state. That was the ethos that Mrs Thatcher personified - take some responsibility, work hard, and you'll be alright. Now how do you like those ****ing apples?
Are you equating Mrs Thatcher with Bin Laden? Really?
Don't see that myself. It's about paying your respects, and whether you're the Queen of England or not, you'd be bound to want to do so for someone you worked quite closely with for 11 and a half years. It's NOT a state funeral but a ceremonial one.
No, Prince Charles attended Wilson's on her behalf. On the other hand, she went to dinner with Wilson to mark his resignation, an act she only ever bestowed on one other PM, Winston Churchill. Does that make her a Labour supporter? Some things she would have done out of duty, some out of choice. Maggie was the longest serving 20th century PM and the only woman, I fully understand that the Queen feels she ought to attend.

It's not an equation, it's hypocrisy over reactions to death. Maybe not anyone specific on here but I'm sure the thousands crying for respect for Thatcher's death have celebrated another in the past.
And the right only care about making money,right? :whistling:
The fact that the Queen (plus Phil the Greek) are going next week makes it a state funeral in all but name.:sad:
