You mean you haven't been cornered in the Far Post and made to listen to his "I bagged five in one match" saga?!

when my daughter was match mascot I got the story, I actually asked him about his playing days first, couldn't get a word in. I was to tell him that he was in the recent millwall fanzine in the article, ex-fat b@stards in a lions shirt- that's absolutely true, but after hearing him, I never had the heart to tell him.

Always prefferred Eddie and the Hot Rods from the Southend /Canvey Rock scene days......Do anything you wanna do...classic
I've got that on Sound of the Suburbs. Great track. Pub rock was born in Canvey/Southend- there's a great book about pub rock called No Sleep Till Canvey Island: The Great Pub Rock Revolution by Will Birch which goes on about it. The Blue Boar is mentioned.
I've got that book. Fantastic Read.

TITW - I always found the Hamsters style of Music overpowering. Much prefered the Feelgoods, Nine Below Zero stylee.

Beaver, they're getting a bit loud nowadays - I preferred them when they were "The Old Pals Act" My favourite Southend band of all time was "The All Crucial British Soul Band" who played from time to time upstairs in The D.ickens on a Thursday evening. The amount of decent bands that played there was phenomenal!

Anyway back to the plot, I hear that the Yeovil DSA were given free hot pies at half time on Saturday. I also hear that their view was impaired by the old "F" block standing up, expect a purge!!

Really? That's good news. Hear any more about the audit?

Used to go to the d**kens on a regular basis, must admit though never saw The All Crucial's.
Was also a good place to see decent cover bands like Bus Stop & Hedgehog.

Well a nice gesture from the Club (just hope there insurance is up to date!!!).
Probably will be a purge then. No doubt will do it v Torquay and really upset everybody just as the seasons finished.

I went to the D.ickens every Thursday for a good couple of years. The Crucial were a Soul Review made up by a number of bands who played at the d**kens but made their debut at the Powerhouse in Basildon all dressed in full evening suits. They used to start the evening fronted by a card board cut-out of David Jacobs with his voice announcing "Good Evening Ladies and Gentlemen, and now the All Crucial British Soul Band"

Lead singer from "The Business", then bass, drums, lead & rhythm guitar (Robin Trower's brother), organ, two saxes and trumpets, three girl backing singers with next to nothing on who then became the backing vocals for Billy Ocean.

Were you in the D.ckens the night that Eric Clapton was playing in a charity gig or when that US acapella band turned up saying that had they had all been prisoners of the Viet-cong in Vietnam and all they had to read whilst imprisoned was a Buddy Holly songbook or something!!

Downside was always waking up somewhere in Southend on  Friday morning and not knowing where the hell I was!!

Now I think about it the setup for the All Crucial's sounds familiar, I reckon I must of seen them at somestage seeing as I also used to frequent the Powerhouse or whatever it was called in those days.

Missed the Clapton Gig, that happened while I was away at college.

Never new where I was most of the time in Southend.

Did you ever see a band called Ronnie The Puma, out of Wickford. Used to play the Basildon Circuit quite a bit. Strangest thing about them was that the lead singer had a lisp.

back to the plot, I think that the free pie saga is being mentioned in the Yeovil programme this Saturday. BTW the Yeovil v Hull match is being beamed back to the KC.

Nice to see the Club getting some good publicity.
Think what would happen if we had Chips as well.

Not surprised it's a big game, and Yeovil can't accomodate very many away supporters.
