Singh

Excuse me. What a lot of cobblers you lot are spouting.

Fact is, we were the better team and lost. Ref's fault? No. If you go in two footed and studs up, like Moussa did, you get sent off. End of, no complaints. If a Brighton player had done that (and none of them did) and not been sent off, we'd have been up in arms.

We can't complain about any of the cautions and the ones dished out to Brighton players were spot on as well.

I don't recall many, if any, decisions he gave that looked wrong. It seems to me that a few of you have forgotten how to lose.

Funny how you ALWAYS stick up for the refs ... is it some sort of closed shop you're in or what ???

Panesar should have sent it to the 3rd umpire : )

in all seriousness it was a terrible referring performance from a usually great lower league ref.

Well from your vantage point in the SU it was never in any doubt was it...
i mean seeing it happened on the half-way line you must be the best-placed to comment right?:D

What's that got to do with anything?!

I've already said that if the video shows that it shouldn't have been a red I'll hold my hands up and admit I was wrong. It was near in the centre-circle and yeah it's a pretty clear view from the SU to there.

Oh I should point out I was Class 1 referee until last season (still would be if I could be bothered to reregister again), so I do actually have some idea what I am talking about.

I could shread some of the utter garbage I've read tonight, but franky, I'd be here all night.

Try listening topeople who were in line with the incident then, instead of saying Tilly always has to blame someone.Trust me,he's RIGHT to blame the ref.The vid just confirms what we all thought!

We havent had Class 1 refs for quite a while now.....you may be getting confused Lord Football.

Anyway, I saw the foul on Sky Sports earlier and borderline red card IMO....you see some given as red, some as yellow. Perhaps, what went before had a bearing on the refs decision (not right I know).

But whatever you say, it was a two footed tackle with studs showing, so it was always running the risk of a card of some sorts.

Of course, and the airport gets clearence from you as well I guess - wow!!!!

LOL!

Don't see the fuss really. Bar not booking Forster for the trip on Barrett got all the decisions correct from my vantage point. Moussa was high and late and it was a red IMO.

I don't think someone in line with the incident necessarily gets a better view. The view from the Upper is the best in the ground, and that includes of the centre-circle. There was no-one in the way, blocking the view and it's not exactly a big pitch so it wasn't far away.

I'm looking forward to seeing the tape and I hope it proves that the ref was wrong.

I thought I would wait until I had viewed the replay of the sending off incident before deciding on whether it was a right or wrong decision..........

............my verdict being it was never a sending off in a million years. Clarke has slid in with a tackle and won the ball. The ball has then gone loose where both Virgo and Moose have challenged for a 55/50 ball, one that was won by Moussa!

At no point did Moussa fly in two footed as you can clearly see he pulls his back leg behind him when sliding in. Unfortunately the **** of a Brighton player has been shot several times during the incident resulting in him rolling around on the floor for a good few minutes (probably something he learnt from the 'Duguid school of conning refs' manual).

No doubt the appeal will be frivolous and Moussa will end up with a further game ban!!!

I actually thought Singh had a decent 1st half but sadly it went downhill from there.

BTW if anyone is interested the replay of the sending off and goals are being shown on Big League Weekend 1 on Sky Sports.

The game was not really a violent game, just the ref seemed intent on making it so, all his decisions just wound the players up which led to them diving in more.

If Moussa's tackle was a red card then surely Revell and Clarke should have been sent off aswell ? along with their muppet of a goalkeeper.

Spot on!

The reason Moooooooousssa got sent off is because, wait for the controversial comment... Singh had just bollocked Grant for his tussle with Cocks (sic) & thought the ONE footed studs up tackle was committed by Grant, not Mooooooussaa. No way would he have sent Moooooooooouusssaa off if he'd realised it was him & not Grant!

That said Mooooooouusssaaa isn't upto the task of playing for us yet, so a 3 match ban will be a blessing for us, especially as Sawyer looked like he had a footballing brain & seemed better than MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMoooooooooooouuuusssssssaaa! He needs time!

Good point,i thought it was Grant with the challenge at first!

Firstly the game....I thought there were plenty of good performances out there tonight. Harding is extremely intelligent and composed on the ball....Robson-Kanu looks even more assured than when we had him last season, Revell worked hard all night and looks fit at last (attitude also spot on - just look at his reaction when subbed...he was devastated and I get the impression he would run through brick walls for us), Barnard looks sharp and Betsy is improving with each game.
Also, flying in the face of Wiggy's comments, I would suggest that Mildenhall looks quality....he had no chance with either goal.

Now my concerns. It is painfully clear that we cannot survive with the central midfield as it stands. Moussa is still nowhere near the finished article, and whilst I like Grant's passion and hard-edge, he will be a liability at times with his discipline, and his first touch and distribution is abysmal. We need a creative midfielder and fast....we will always try and play attractive football, and tonight was no different at times, but we have no cutting edge (always a Southend problem, but eased somewhat by having Gower and Bailey). Tonight demonstrated just how badly we will miss these two.

Finally the ref. I have always been a big fan of Mr Singh's, but I was mortified by some of his decisions tonight, and the red card was NEVER a red. Moussa won the ball from where I was, albeit industriously, and the Brighton player (name and number not seen at the time) went down holding his head.
Brighton were quite well organised, and as with any Micky Adams team, were synical, frustrating and not particularly exciting, but were pretty effective on the break, and I had a numb feeling we would pay the price for not taking our chances throughout the game.

Oh, and for all of my banter with Michel Kuipers, he let me down big time and actually put in an assured performance apart from a couple of clangers!

Remember, we are only a couple of players away from being a quality team again, and we are only 3 games in. Keep the faith.

Sorry mate that is complete tosh. Just because they are both black and look similar from a distance doesn't mean a ref is going to mix them up. And Grant had already been booked.

Moussa got a straight red for a bad tackle. It wasn't because the ref thought he was Grant. If he had given a second yellow and then a red I may have been inclined to agree with you.

Typical,7500 fans think the ref had a mare, you an ex class 1 ref thinks we're all wrong, says it all really.

I actually thought Singh had a decent 1st half but sadly it went downhill from there.

That's the way I saw it, and Tilly definitely gave the impression that Moussa had gone for it fairly while their bloke was the one with his studs off the floor and he saw it immediately after the game as did Nick Alliker. He also thought it was worth appealing.

I thought the Revell/Kuipers incident set the tone for the rest of the game, and really both should have gone. It might have been reasonable for Revell to have challenged for it but not quite in the way he did, and it was clearly unreasonable for Kuipers to retaliate in the way he did. I didn't think Clarke deserved his booking and I felt the Brighton players were guilty of some very underhand tactics. That ar5e Forster was inciting the West stand fans at every opportunity he got, and why the linesman that side never brought it to the ref's attention I'll never know because he wasn't far from it most of the time. I hope they keep the evidence that must be on the Blues World cameras and forward it to the FA.

Disgraceful performance from these two officials tonight, we outplayed them completely in the first hour and looked odds on for a win but yet again fell to pieces when forced into a change, same as last week.
