Singh

Do not put words into my mouth.

I did state he seems to have preconceived ideas that we are a top of the foul play league side and that he has a "downer" on us.

I still don't know why you'd come to that conclusion, though. Before last night Singh had refereed us six times at Roots Hall and I don't remember any of our players getting into any bother in any of those matches.

And the phrase 'he has a "downer" on us' does 'imply', to me at least, that you think he's biased.

I wached the replay of the sending off last night. If you watch it in real time then there doesn't seem to be a lot wrong. Both players slid in, one of them made a meal of it and writhed around in agony.

If you watch it in slow motion, Moussa's foot (just one) is slightly up but, out of the two of them, he was the least aggressive (he didn't go in as hard or quick).

What I always look for is the reaction of players in and around the incident. Firstly, Moussa gets straight up and is immediately faced by a Brighton player who tries to win the ball off him. a second Brighton player also makes a half hearted attempt to win the ball but soon stops as he realises the game has been stopped.

So, 2 questions:

1. Why didn't the Brighton players react like they did with the Revell / Goalie incident? (Albeit in front of the baying Bighton fans perhaps and possibly the fact Revell is ex Brighton).?

2. Why didn't the ref blow straight away? He was only 10 yards away and there wasn't any advantage to Brighton as Moussa had time to get up with the ball and avoid not one but 2 challenges!

If a ref sees a challenge which warrants a red card, then he should blow his whistle straights away. It looked to me like an after thought.....

I have in the past admired Singh, but my opinion of him dropped a little last season.

There were so many inconsistancys last night, starting with that blatant backpass.

From the South Upper I can't fully comment on the Revell/Kippers incident, but if Kippers retiliated it's a red regardless of what offence/punishment regarding Revell.

Peter Clarke was cautioned for a two-footed tackle (albeit winning the ball), in the first half, so what's his reason for the Moussa red? To be honest, after seeing it on tv I believe it should have been Virgo, not Moussa, who recieved his marching orders if anyone did.

I'm sure if Singh had taken a moment to think about it before brandishing a card without hestitation the outcome may have been different.

Forster's behaviour throughout was atrocious and how he wasn't booked for dissent is quite incredible. Oh, and he really 'went for the ball' in that tackle by the west stand didn't he!

Matt Richards stood in the face of the West Stand assistant and hurled abuse in the face for a good 8-10 seconds including telling him to '**** off' at least three times. I heard this from my seat. Not a red?! Indeed, that assistant failed to flag for a free-kick all evening, despite some very clear fouls, particularly continuous holding of Adam Barrett inside the box.

Poor all round to be honest.

That would be when Richards trapped the ball at his feet and the keeper came and pounced on it. That is not a backpass as defined for the purposes of this Law.

Linos at all levels seem to tolerate far too much abuse. I've no idea why. I guess they are aspiring to be referees at the higher level and don't want to rock the boat.

Yeah, I agree with Mick on this one. It looked to me as though the defender wanted to take control but Kuipers virtually grabbed it off his feet. For a free-kick to be given in those circumstances, the backpass has to be deemed as deliberate and I don't think it was.

Linos at FL level generally ref in the Blue Square leagues.

If I am honest, I used to get told to "f off" and never batted an eyelid. Drew the line a few words beginning with "c" though. It's a tolerance thing and the further up the pyramid you get, the less important it becomes.

It's a bit different on the local parks, because most of the refs there are junior refs, dont have linos and certainly don't have a cordon of security to bail them out if it goes tits up (and it does, occassionally). So do it on the park, and generally you'll be heading for the shower.

Actually, you can't really compare what you see at FL level with what you might play on a Saturday afternoon / Sunday morning.

on the forster incident, the 4th official is going to report the idiot to the FA and the police will also be getting involved. i was told this by the steward last night as i was sitting at the front of the west stand. that is all i know so i can not confirm if he was arrested down the tunnel.

one other thing i kno is that this **** should be banned for a couple of games and it was a complete disgrace to taunt our fans, espeicially from an experienced proffessional

Doesn't need to be. It just needs to be reckless. And it was. [other posters reckon it was the opposing player who challenged recklessly, I have not yet seen it replayed but it seems you suggest the decision was IYO correct]

I do have to say, once you become a referee you get a very different perspective on games when going as a supporter. I used to lay into refs all the time in my pre Man In Black days. I do get quite irate when I hear some of the comments from people because they've clearly not got a clue [I am the first to acknowledge a referee who has a good game, and that it is a difficult job to make instant decisions - have two former refs in the family Mick & James Dalgarno] .

I did lose it twice with officals last year, because clearly they were not competent on the day. The linos for the home game v Yeovil who obvisouly werent watching the assaults on Macca and Francis and the ref at Orient who was abysmal.

I actually get more annoyed at the antics of players who make things out to be worse than they are or argue the indefensible. Forster did it last night claiming a corner when clearly it was anything but. I still seeth at the mention of Sean Thornton.

And do you really need to post in bold. It comes across as shouty and aggressive? Or is it part of the Irate personna?
[Yes, when multi quoting a reply to distingsh the text from that of the original author]

Under Thread: Bluesworld Commentary

Ex Trust Treasurer Bloke comments:

"He did not jump in, he did not go in 2 footed. He slid in, and made contact with the Brighton player whilst on his side having slid, correctly to make a tackle.

Singh also had a very very good view of it, and I seriously question his judgement".

Slight difference of opinion beginning to emerge compared with the opinions of the two pro refs, Singh & Lord Football.

He ran past the West Stand & made a very high & obvious w anker gesture to the crowd. I saw it from the opposite side of the pitch!

Was anyone genuinely offended by this or was it just a case of trying to get the opposition reduced to ten men?

Forster was getting abuse as an opposition player. Is it really the end of the World if he gives it back? (I only ask this having asked on here last night what Forster had done and having got no answer).

Wasn't only that though, it was the continuous "what me?" gestures, winking, smirking and cupping his hand to ears.

Lock him up and throw away the key - come on hardly crime of the century - I hope the police aren't wasting their time with this.

Having just watched the Bluesworld Highlights, it looks to me that Moussa gets to the ball, even before the Brighton slides in
