Very impressed with todays game for many different reasons.

The future looks very very bright and all 3 goals today were the best goals ive seen in many many years ! (can you remember the last time you clapped an opposition goal ? ) i think the whole of Roots Hall clapped both Charltons & Bentleys goals today

Overal very impressed and very happy !

ps - there is noway i could handle Bart as our keeper, he gives me nightmares !!

Does this mean we are definitely going to win League 1 and the FA and league cups?

They were in the executive box in the east right at the end by the away fans on the MITZZZ....

Very impressive performance today. first half especially we controlled the game and made a strong Norwich side look very ordinary. Eastwood looks on fire at the moment, his close control today was better than I'd ever seen it. Guttridge was very good too and I'd be very tempted to start him on the right ahead of Gower. I thought Jupp was very good too. Huckerby was causing Hunt all sorts of problems at the start but Jupp dealt with him far more effectively.

Only a few small negatives. I was particularly looking forward to seeing Smith, Cole & Jozic so the fact that none of them made so much of an appearence was a shame. Aso its very much apparent that we're crying out for another striker. And my only other gripe was their goal. Yes, it was a good finish, but Flavs made it very easy for him by taking up a shocking position. Charlton didn't even have to stick it in the corner, Flavs gave him so much of the goal to shoot at.

strange place to put them, I think they're much more use on the pitch.

Tilly explained why Pettefer, Gower, Cole and Smith were unavailable, but no mention of Jozic. Anyone know at all?

3 cracking goals, not sure about the slating of Flavs for Charlton's goal, Beefy. In my eyes it was a top drawer finish. Freddy is carrying on where he left of with the added point of working incredibly hard. I never saw him as a 'lazy' player before as some did, but today he never stopped chasing and certainly out did Wayne 'fall over a lot' Gray.

The trialist from Chelsea was a bit like a black Carl Pettefer, does anyone else agree? Every time he got the ball you were crying out for him to run with it but he always turned back and knocked it back to Jupp.

Lawson looked good again, Bart looked very sharp and Guttridge is really showing why 12 months ago Charlton were going to pay close on £400,000 for him.

My only moan of the day, is for some fat mouthy tit sitting in the Greens in about the fourth row near the dugout. Continually calling James Lawson, Mitchell, was annoying enough, but spending the entire game shouting at Huckerby, as well as ordering our players to "kill" Huckerby, Francis and any other Norwich player who had the audacity of touching the ball was taking the biscuit. You sit there much through the season and you may very well be clouted by someone.

what was the reasoning for Petts, Gower, Cole and Smith? I was also curious about Jozic, esp. since I could have sworn that I saw there was a report on the team's site that Jozic was looking to impress Tilly for this match? Maybe I'm wrong.

Yeah, I heard a lot of Huckerby abuse in the west, ok once or twice but every time he touched the ball? It was just annoying.

Excellent game today, we played well in the first half and fully deserved the lead at the break.
Charlton's goal was a fine opener, rightfully applauded by both home and away fans, and Eastwood made their full back look very silly for his goal. I though Eastwood looked very sharp today and worked hard as well, this bodes well for the season ahead. Bentley's goal was a belter from the Mark Gower school of finishing, I really didn't think he had that kind of shot in him! Bents worked hard all game too, and also deserved a mention.

The game died a bit in the second half, while we largely contained them and restricted them to long range efforts, we didn't create much in the half ourselves, perhaps this was the effect of all the substitutions.
I've not really seen much of Guttridge due to missing a lot of the last part of our promotion season, but I was impressed with him today, same goes for Lawson, who I thought did a good job on the wing. All in all a fine performance.

I'm a Flavs fan and certainly am not looking to criticise for no need. But I said before the free-kick was taken that Darryl had taken up the totally wrong position. He was only about a yard or so off of is left-hand post. You can't stand there when you're up against guys who were playing in the Premier$hite a few months ago. It was a good finish, but all they did was roll it to the side to take the wall out of the equation then Charlton had 3/4 of the goal to place it into.

Also, another thing about today. What on Earth was going on with th new half time challenge? In three years no one has ever won the car on the old challenge so now they've come up with one thats about ten time more difficult. Crazy.

.... as was his penchant for going to ground every time he was tackled and some times when he wasn't. He is definately one of an unacceptably large number of players who try to cheat.

From where I was I thought he made the International keeper look a bit silly too !

on blues world Tilly mentioned about some players were carrying niggles so he didn't want to risk them. Hope Jay's is nothing too serious after the year he's had.

A few things were blatantly apparent from where I was sitting today...

1. All of last seasons mainstays gave good accounts of themselves, particularly Barrett, Maher, Bentley and Freddy.

2. Wayne Gray's so called "defence frightening" pace was pitifully ineffective against a higher level of defender - we seriously need some more forwards.

3. Flavs is better than Bart (even if he was at fault for their goal).

4. Guttridge is pure class - solid and creative in midfield, tracked back and defended well when needed and just as comfortable in attack. What an asset.

I totally accept your point of view but I just felt it was a belter. Interestingly though I made a point of watching Flavs as it was lined up because he was going mental at the wall, mainly Gray, for not lining up the way he wanted. He suppose he might have thought Norwich would take advantage of a shoddy wall and try and anticipate it going that way. Who knows.

As for the half time challange. I'm bloody glad I didn't do it! Jeff came up to me before the game with the line "you look quite fit", which worried me no end! For some reason he chose me out and wanted me to take part, although he refused to tell me what it involved other than it being slightly different to last year. I wimped out and the woman who was sitting a few along from me was the one who did it. If, like last year, the winner always seems to be mainly someone who can barely kick a ball, then Ford are safe from giving away a car for another year!

It cetainly wasn't "blatantly apparent" on todays show one way or another.

Their goal was a good finish (although he was given a lot of goal to aim at) but I thought the header that floated over Flahavan onto the bar would probably have been fielded by Bart. He made one good punch under some pressure.

Bart for his part was scrambling around after a couple of deflections (understandable) but made some good high takes.

Honours even, I'd say.
