Post-Match Thread and Ratings Southend United 0-0 Wrexham

Colin .. 19 years old ? Sometimes I get nervous for him expecting mistakes . I have not see a howler like that leg 2 clown we had . Good top hand save against in swinging shot … his reaction save on the line against Chesterfield was quality. Obviously theOppo target him but he seems to stand up to the corners and long throws well ..

Ralph - an EFL standard player. It shows.

Kacper - the one time the Welsh broke he put on the after burners and got back. Makes life easy for Hobson and Kensdale. I think that we have a strong back 3

Gus - not as effective going forward as you would like but reads the game well.

Noor Husain - I thought he had a really good game and made a big difference ..

Miley. - does what he does really well

Mooney - gifted but also fails too often .. some poor passing at times

Dakars - big with a good touch and properly works … he looks like he could be a good player for us..

Hyde- umm …

We’ve had a tough run. Played all of the top sides other than Notts county who lost to Dorking today. We now have a genuine run of winnable games. Today showed with a strong 11 we can more than compete. Long way to go, we just need to get on a run and get momentum. Ralph and Husin showed today what they add to the team. The formation seemed to work much better with an extra player in the middle and also two up top. Cardwell also on the pitch before the game warming up so things are starting to look better on the injury front. Wealdstone next week won’t be easy but play like we did today and we have a hope of getting the win.

Bit dramatic Barna. We’ve got an incredibly favourable run up to the new year, and recent performances - not results - have shown we can hold our own with the best in this division.

Let’s revisit this at the end of December.
As the man said football is a results based business.fwIw,I hope youre right.

I think Wrexham will think they are very lucky to go away with a point today. After the first 30 minutes it was all us. God knows what goes through refs minds at times but today he was shocking with so many wrong decisions. How he ruled out our goal after giving it and the linesman not flagging for offside was due to one of their players hassling the lino.

All the players did very well and worked as team. I thought the midfield were very good and the oustanding player to me was Lopata who marshalled everything at the back and didn't put a foot wrong.

We are getting better as a team no doubt about it and the minutes silence was spot on from all fans.

I suspect losing Husin and Taylor through injury early in the season thus reducing our midfield options may have hurt us more than some realise.

After nine games we have played three of the top five and none of the bottom four. There are thirty seven games to go so we have ample opportunity to improve our results.

Much as I would loved a win today I remain optimistic.

Great team performance. Worked as a unit very well.

Hobson brilliant again today. Lots of criticism for Collin recently but was steadfast today. Couple of great saves and stood up pressure from the big Wrexham lads. Hyde not 100% fit yet but will score goals for us.

We made Wrexham look pretty average today. The starting 11 Maher put out was strong. I think a good run is coming, especially if we continue to play like we did today.

One of these days we shall get some luck. Chairman Ron must have used all his up 5 years ago.

If Wrexham are supposed to be the best we matched them and maybe bettered them. 5 new players since I last came, Hyde, Dackers, Husin Ralph and Lopata gave the side a far better balance and solidity.

I thought Husin was excellent taking that account he was out so long.

We didn’t really get that many chances though - not as many as when Powell is confusing everybody.

Wrexham - we dealt well with Ben Tozer’s long throws- didn’t really trouble Colin - but a fantastic acrobatic save from Palmer inthe first half showed the promise he has got.

Oh and my print at home ticket finally let me in through the turnstile.

Not so good - Greater Anglia putting on an old 4 coach train for the 17.12 from Prittlewell - standing room only. They must sponsor the refs - equally incompetent!

Absolutely shocking officials as I suppose we have to accept at this level but they really shouldn't be that bad.

I was expecting the worst but I had forgotten what a massive difference Kacper makes to our team, head & shoulders above anyone else on the pitch this afternoon. I can't help wondering what the outcome would have been Tuesday if he had played the full 90 minutes.

Colin had a great game, I have been very worried recently but 👏 today & I thought we edged it & should have won. Very pleased to see that we can compete with the best in the league ☺️

Could have and probably should been 2 up before the phantom goal
Great performance against a top team .
Walking out at the end all hear from fans is how poor the officials are rather than how well we played.
I think with Ralph and Husin back in team we will win more games than lose.

Wrexham seemed bang average but big, fit and organised lumps, and confident.
Collin, 8, only had 2 saves to make all game and some good catches.
Gus, 7, dropped back after 70 minutes and unlike first half didn't have our coaches demanding he get forward. He will progress
Kacper, 8, commanding, looks bulkier and stronger.
Hobbo, 8, worked the ball forward, especially first half but same as Gus seemed to stop doing so later on.
Kensdale, 7, steady and always looking to cover behind Ralph.
Ralph, 7, so pleased he is back, athlete, nearly scored with header late on.
Husin, 9, top show, M oM, harried, chased, roughed em up and ruffled their midfield.
Cav, 7, steady
Mooney, 8, ran his socks off, see Gus and Hobbo for after 70 minutes and dropping back.
Dakkers, 7, good work, TALL, awkward like Jason Pineapple Lee, sign him up!
Hyde, 7, got stuck in and occupied their defenders creating space for others, got better, spoke to him after game and he was furious about his "goal".

Subs, Wreh, 7, interesting and tricky
Wes, 7, the clattery shot/ block shook him but he knows he has to work for his place back now.
Bridge, 7, nearly made it 3 points, with Ralph and Gus he works well, he can ride and win a tackle attempt on him but wish he would get stuck in more like Cav and Noor do, AND take a shot on too.

3 Amigos, right team, tactics and changes 8. If Ruby could go and sit on wall of West Stand 2nd half and direct from there then we will be better getting out and stepping forward late on down both sides.

Does that matter though? Neither the lino or the ref saw or gave it.
They caved in under pressure from the Wrexham players. How can they change their decision on something neither of them saw?
This. Absolute ****ing disgrace. Fuming.

We deserved those three points as the big money superstars offered nothing. We played (and especially, defended) very well. For once we were getting corners into dangerous areas and heads on the ball. Finishing still a little off, but I’m quite encouraged overall.
