Nothing much to add to the obvious. Spine of the team missing, no leadership. Far too lightweight in midfield. Woodyard had a torrid first half, Spillane looked a fish out of water at centre back and Smith was back to his nervous self of a few weeks ago. Saying that, Cheltenham werent that great, just had more muscle in the middle of the park and were very strong at the back. Corr hardly won a header all night but I cannot understand why Britt was on the bench. Puzzling tactics from Luggy.
Not sure how many loans we can get but we desperately need a strong centre midfielder.
Bright spots were a decent debut from Mayor and Reeves who frankly was a class above his team mates and deserved his goal. Ref was awful, as were his assistants.
I also still maintain that somewhere the real Anthony Straker is gagged and tied up in a car boot or a disused warehouse, and this guy we have got has stolen his identity, as he was absolute toilet once again. I cannot understand how we could swap Gilbert who was steady if unspectacular and pay Aldershot money to take Straker off their hands. No wonder Prosser looked a bag of nerves playing alongside him.
No surprise the crowd was so low, Roots Hall has not been an entertaining place this season, despite an improvement in the quality of football (At times). Dont think it helps that the pitch is looking very poor, plenty of ballooned shots by both teams tonight, catching bobbles and divots.
^^^as above. Spot on, roll on Saturday.
If Cheltenham are third serving up that mindless garbage then football is dying. Clearly the only tactic was to kick the ball as high in the air as possible giving them plenty of time to get in position to foul us while doing a jedi-mind trick on the incompetent referee.. Horrible Horrible team. The moment any player went near them they jump to the floor screaming. We were too honest tonight... but to be fair even a stonewall pen wouldnt have gone our way tonight. I'm still raging now and had to go for a long drive after the game to calm down - didnt work.
The reason we're third is that with the players we have, we are generally capable of shutting teams out and not conceding many goals, and with the quality we have up front we don't need many chances to score. No point complaining, we've had a fair few points dropped that we feel are undeserved... No use dwelling on what might've been, you can't afford to make 2 crucial ****-ups in defence at the end of the day.
