I am glad I didn't went tonight, I did my bit for the team by staying away! As I lost 8 in a row watching Tuesday night match at RH!

Comfortable win. Wish we had really gone for them though, we may have got 4 or 5. Goal difference could be a factor come May.

Bentley 7. Silenced the Trolls, although did come a way out second half and didn't get almost like Saturday, couple of punched clearances that were iffy. That aside another clean sheet (how many minutes at home now?)

White 7. solid, couple of times should have crossed early and lost the ball. Might have had a late penalty?

Thomson 8. Pick of the back four for me. very solid and cleared any danger from BW's dodgy moments into touch. No messin'

Binnon Williams 7. Didn't make as many mistakes as he looks as though he might (if that makes sense) Good heading too.

Coker 7. Didn't get forward, as much as he may have done, but didn't give anything away.

Timlin 7. Some good, some not so good, but nothing too bad. Creates when he can.

Atkinson. 7.5 Full of running and energy, could have had a goal after good late burst into box, but finishing let him down.
can't leave him out at the moment.

Leonard. 7.5 Better than of late, a lot of energy and getting back to his old self.

Payne. 7.5 Looked lively first half and definitely spots the runs of Piggott and Cassidy, run out of steam a bit second, and was rightly subbed IMHO

Piggott 8.5 Just gets MOM from me for the two goals, movement, and general nuisance, and good touch from the forward man.

Cassidy 7. Better game from him, linked with his forward Partner, and moved well, to leave gaps. A lot of what he does goes un-noticed because he is not getting on the scoresheet, but must persist with this partnership.

Subs.

Hurst 7. swapped wings with Weston, and caused slightly more problems, but got himself caught off-side when really shouldn't have done, and would have been through on goal.

Weston 7. Flattered to deceive a bit looked lively, but didn't actually beat his man when he came on. Swapped wings and the same result.

Barrett. 7. (Now I know this is going to cause an uproar) I thought we looked more shaky when he came on at the back, and this substitution actually seemed to spur Cheltenham on ( and their subs too ) The back four looked comfortable, and I would have left it alone, but then I don't have to please the crowd !

Not sure any of the subs added to the performance.

So how have you rated Barrett the same as Williams, White & Coker?

Totally agree with you, especially about Cassidy and Barrett.

I watched Cassidy and he does so much hard work off the ball and also thought when Barrett first came on, the defence looked more shaky, but fortunately that didn't last

Agree that the back four looked worse, but Coker must of been the player who had a knock and wasn't going to play, and he also looked a bit knackered? Maybe he has the bug that is going around the camp.

What a strong bench without Worrall and Prosser on it!

Penney said on the radio Coker took a slight knock to his hip. Took him off as a precaution for Saturday. Makes sense..and gets Barrett some match practice

First half excellent, second sat back and invited them on a bit. Looked comfortable and never felt like we would concede. Would have been nice to have scored 3 or 4 but the win the most important thing. Thought Thompson was brilliant, midfield worked very hard and the front two seem to be getting better and better with every game. Piggott gets the headlines with his two goals but Cassidy did a lot of very unselfish running and worked very hard, just needs a goal to get going. Bentley solid apart from a couple of dodgy kicks and a few off his line moments. All in all a very positive evening and on to another big game Saturday. Momentum the key.

Added to that lets not forget that piggots goal came from a save from a Cassidy header

Because you mentioned it first. So what, he is a dick, better than that, a banned dick. Why give him the exposure and five minutes of fame that he obviously craved? Ignore the idiot and let him be tomorrows chip paper. You normally give quite a good report, stick to that.
You do realise this could lead to further problems with the FA after the smoke bomb issue at Portsmouth. Could mean a fine for the club and other sanctions. Personally don't care about it if there aren't further actions but still worth mentioning.

That final home game against Luton is looking potentially huge, if we're both still in the mix I reckon that could be a big crowd as they will no doubt bring plenty down.

If they're taking 800+ to a game away at Plymouth they'll sell 2000+ for a big game against us! Who knows, that could be our cup final!

Tonight was as comfortable a two nil win as I am ever likely to see.
I thought PB was chancing it with the same line up from the weekend but it worked well and I am starting to think that the team has a better idea of what is expected of/from their roles.
Lenny is lying deep to link with the backs; and Payne is playing just behind the front two.
Formation similar to 4 1 2 1 2, if that makes sense? Diamond midfield?
Dan, 7, not much to do, good distribution but nearly got caught out once, punched a fair bit at corners.
JW,7, sound, solid, reliable, some good support work.
Thommo ,9, won everything, best performance from him for us by a country mile.
B-Williams, 8+, excellent as centre back, less so when moved out to left back BUT a very sound game from a lad showing he IS a good player; also he seems a popular, well liked guy within the team,
Cokes, 8, usual solid stuff from Ben, went off with ice to his ankle, hope it is not serious.
Lenny, 7, much better especially defensively.
Tims, 8, nearly scored (twice) and another goal line clearance! Covered every inch of the pitch.
Willo, 7, runs and closes down but would like to see more going forward stuff from him.
Jack, 7, some good stuff, some great close control & times when the game went on without him.
Butch, 6, worked and ran but not much went right for him.
Pig, 8+, great 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] goal finish, great work rate, sign him please.
Subs; no ratings as not enough time really.
Westy, some great runs, he is exciting to watch when he goes at them!
Kevan, craft and guile, useful sub performance.
Adam, proper captain, looked tad off the pace but one has to like the guy, great welcome home.
Otherthings; 49 away fans?????very poor but I counted 51, did 2 get in for free? And they were on their manager’s back from kick off, very very sad to come all that way and be so negative.
Ref, ok but didn’t have a hard decision all night, let lots of tussles and shirt pulling go until 85[SUP]th[/SUP] minute.
TBV, much better singing and kept up with what was happening, especially recognising Tim’s & Pig’s efforts. Thommo needs a chant now though for that performance.

Decent first half performance. Average second half performance. Cheltenham were awful in the first half and will have pleased their manager in the second with at least a fight. We finally found a goalscorer and that is the difference for me. Pure and simple. Nobody would have scored that second goal like that, and how many balls drop in the box to nobody usually. Pigott in right place and still needed finishing.

A very positive night night given the other scores coming in but another big game Saturday. I've been here too many times now so it's got to be game by game now. The moment you start getting excited Nine game winless streaks pop up.

Bentley 7 - largely unbusy but handled well. Looked more nervy than usual. Good test for him to come through Saturday and get a clean sheet
White 6 - quiet from the skipper and often slow to cross
Coker 7 - quiet again by his high standards, but what a ball for the second..
Williams 7 - never looks fully assured but again consistent display at back
Thompson 9 - best performance in blues shirt for me. See what a run of games can do?! Looks full of confidence
Timlin 7 - lots of energy and good runs but missing at times when not playing in centre
Atkinson 8 - very positive contribution today all over park. Underrated but not by me
Leonard 8 - grew into the game after a sluggish start. By the end looked like player of old. Made some brilliant headed clearances at critical time
Payne 7 - 8 for first half but faded badly in the second. Brown made right sub for me
Cassidy 7 - did well and played his part tonight. Doesn't need to score if Partner is.
Piggott 8 - goalscorer, end of.

Good to see high energy performances by the three subs.
Brown made good subs. Seems to be learning from his mistakes and looked well up for it tonight
Ref. Faultless. As good and composed a performance as I can remember here. Played advantage well and talked to players throughout game. Even listened and overruled himself on the John White throw in.

So how did AB look?

Very shaky, tried to win the ball a couple of times when it wasn't there to be won resulting in him being turned a couple of times and giving away a needless freekick.

Hopefully it's a combination of being a bit rusty and trying too hard to impress on his first game back.
