Echo News Southend United boss Phil Brown set to decide on future of trialists

for me you sign those that can make the biggest impact , have something to prove and those that could be around for longer if they are any good.

Slightly worrying to hear that we don't have much budget left when there are still 3 or 4 spaces left to fill!

The budget quote sounds like typical Phil to me. He used to say things like that to put pressure on Ron quite a lot.
Plus don't forget I think one or two that have got signed up/accepted offers. Tik tok...

He has spent most his budget bringing in 6 players and then will top it up with 3 or 4 youngsters

I am a bit puzzled about the signing of Dunne. He has been given a two-year contract and yet his role in the team would seem to be ably covered by Ogogo. Do you think Dunne has simply signed as back up to Ogogo or will PB try and combine the two in midfield?

Personally i think he will play both to start with, then have an attacking midfielder, 2 wonder players and a forward

I also wonder if it's to make all the trialist try harder to compete for the few spots and the 'limited' budget available. Make them really work for that last bit of budget.

Like the sound of the big striker from QPR. He sounds like he got real physical presence and considerable skill.

It looks like we are going to play quite a defensive midfield line. But then again it worked for England

We haven't got an attacking centre midfielder. It's area like the strike force which needs addressing.
Depends- PB has a historical preference for a 442. Even then worrying about getting overrun defensively in MF and so playing one out and out winger with a more defensive wide player on the other side. So doubt your attacking CM is a priority.
