SOUTHEND United manager Phil Brown is to appeal the red card Ben Coker received during Saturday’s 1-0 win against Luton Town.

Gotta be reveresed looking at it

Don't hold your breath. They will have to accept that the officials got the decision wrong, not that they interpreted differently to us. I really hope I'm wrong.

I don't think we will get this overturned. The fact he used he hand to flick his ankles rather than making a genuine attempt to win the ball with a tackle...

IS it called taking one for the team .And normaly that kind of thing gets yellow unless already book then the ref has very little option . Sat ref was very inconsistent with his handling of the game .He blew the whistle for the slightest thing .And there was times he could have played an advantage he stopped the play .

He was very fussy, especially when he told the Luton player to move the freekick back and he just placed it about 3 inches back and just chuckled to himself as the ref said that was fine.

A deliberate foul is not a red card. It wasn't a clear goalscoring opportunity as Bolger and Leonard were covering.

Even if they weren't , with our keeper not even a one on one is a clear goalscoring opportunity :winking:

Doesn't matter!!

You don't get sent off for intentionally fouling someone; he was sent off for denying a goal scoring opportunity, which he clearly didn't, which makes it a completely ludicrous decision.

Saying that, doesn't mean it will get overturned, but just wish the ref would hold his hands and say 'sorry got that one wrong' and get it overturned, especially taking into account how big a game Coker could miss.

Way I see it the red card is meant to be. The way the Gods want this played out. I doubt we would have won the match if the game hadn't see us go down to ten men. Hope it isn't overturned and we play out the divine script we've been handed.

Just been announced that we have won the appeal for his red card on Saturday, and he will be available to play vs Morecambe. Excellent news!
