Official Match Thread Southend United vs Harrogate Town

Defeat won't be a disaster today. In an 'ideal world' our tax bill will be settled during the week and the side will be strengthened for next Saturday's long trip to Carlisle. Do I say that with some confidence???

Didn’t really come across what I was trying to say lol I simply meant losing to the leagues new boys would be somewhat humiliating in my opinion.. losing the first game against anyone however is of course never ideal!

Considering to watch on ifollow, would people recommend it?

ifollow is decent nowadays. I watch on my iPad with the app and the picture and sound quality is usually very good.

Yes.What other options are there?

I’m old and slow looking up stats , but can anyone tell me the average age of our starting ‘outfield ten’ ?
Average age is 22.36.

Average age of the starting XI is 23.05.

Average age of the bench is 20.97.

6 19-year-olds in the squad, 3 of them in the starting lineup.

Oxley and Ralph are the only players in the squad who are over 25. Oxley's the old man of the squad, he'll be 30 in a few weeks.

My only worry is that the midfield looks incredibly lightweight. Seriously missing that presence that Dieng brings. White is also a big miss. Nevertheless, we have to avoid defeat today against league new boys, that would be the worst possible start if we don’t. Come on lads!

Pretty much every area is lightweight. Lets hope for the best though.

I’m feeling positive with this line up!

Just realised that 12 out of the 17 match day squad are former youth players, or were originally signed to the under 23’s (Taylor, Kyp and Hutch). That’s madness ?

Player - age - league* starts - goals
Oxley - 29 - 221 -1
Bwomono 21 - 70 - 1
Ralph 27 - 142 - 4
Taylor 19 - 2 -0
Hobson 22 - 22 - 4
Egbri 19 - 6 - 1
Green 25 - 48 - 8
Gard 21 -2 - 1
Hutchinson 20 - 14 - 1
Kelman 18 - 14 - 6
Goodship 25 - 14 - 3

(*according to soccerbase - includes Conf and Scottish League)
