44 staff earn more than £100,000 !

Council workers at the top end are raking in our money, yes it's our money.

What do they do for 2 grand a week...probably as little as possible.

We are told hard pressed councils cannot fund whatever...too busy with their own snouts in the trough.

How many council employees earn more than £50,000 hmmmm

If it's so easy, why don't you go and do it.

A complex organisation responsible for large budgets and delivering hundreds of services. I can understand why their top staff get paid relatively well.

Take it you never moan about your council tax bill or potholes or bins not being emptied or if you want to contact the police.

Just like the NHS...made up roles paying decent salaries.

Go on then Mrs B, I'll have a little nibble.

Since the leader of the council will be heavily measured on cost control and provision of services on a budget, can you help me understand why they'd be investing in, as you put it, "made up roles paying decent salaries"?

Absolutely this.

The LGBT wellbeing officer at my local council offers tremendous value for tax payers money.

As I said to the chaps her work on International womens day was outstanding and we all agreed that this little lady deserved a pat on the back.

I don't moan about my council tax bill. The few times I've had to speak to the council about things (a large pothole, some overgrown grass that was obstructing the view at a roundabout, they got resolved really quickly).

Can you name/define some of these made up roles in the council/NHS?

It can't be that good, you have used the word chaps. The term Guys is considered more generic and therefor more inclusive.

Edit: some of us paid attention on our 2 day officers LBGT awareness course.

It's a big game the top bods play in order to spend their annual budget......councils and the NHS plead poverty even though they waste billions on services and "staff".

Case study,

Every council during school term time spend around £50,000 pw in taking children to and from school, fair enough if the parents are invalid or in poor health but that isn't the case whatsoever, parents I know of are lazy cash suckers draining the life out of the system which is there to help all, ditto the NHS.

Budgets must be spent regardless.

Research is the way to discover the madness.

Go onto any NHS or council site and search jobs.

Had to quote you again,sorry.

Rotherham council were guilty of cover ups over the gang preying on young kids...as far as I know not one council employee has been arrested sacked or jailed....top bods playing games.

That's alright. I'm learning things all the time.

Well there's TWO right there. The CEO now has a CEPH and CEOG to help. Innovation at work and a mere 200k per year.

Just like the NHS...made up roles paying decent salaries.
Of course, if you have a budget and you don't spend it, you'll probably lose it. You're right there so your hyperbolic point must also be valid that the CEO will also just "make up some new roles" and pay out disproportionate money for them. That's far easier than actually doing his/her actual job and making people work for the money they're being paid and then hold them accountable for it. I mean, that's what YOU would do. And me. And probably everyone else on this forum. And my mum. And my dog - and he's dumb as ****.

But not the people who've got themselves into the position of having to make that decision for a living. They'd never see the light. Clearly we're not paying them enough and we need to attract a better calibre of decision maker? We'll need to put those guys on seven figures of course.

What does she actually do,I mean really actually do....guessing her salary in excess of 40k?

I asked for specific roles but you've not been able to deliver. Why don't you do the research to back up your claims? Then people would take you more seriously.

I've spent my academic and professional career doing research in and around the NHS. I have a pretty good idea about where it works and where it fails. Your idea that there are just made up jobs for the sake of it to keep people employed is just madness, in my reasonably informed and professional view.

Come on Mrs B. Callan has already given you enough limited information to make a full scale scandal out of it. He said himself she only works on International Women's day. And LGBT Wellbeing Officer, come on. That's as made-up as they come!

Made up role eh....how about the CEO of Staffordshire health trust, she was forced to quit her £250,000 job because of parent power, she took her impressive pension and was re employed by the same trust on the same salary in what the media described as a made up role.....over to you Mr.
