Stan "THE MAN" "LEGEND" Collymore,
So good for us fans to hear someone who genuinally cares about the club come back to try to give us a lift in this our darkest hour. Believe me its appriciated.
(what we could have done with your talent this year but unfortunately several years too late).
In regards to the situation you are proposing it sounds great in theory the only 2 main sticking points are 1stly how many of those contacts would be willing to get involved with us? and would they be able to advise /give any help to the club financially (like the backing salford has gotten?) not saying it cant be done but lets keep our feet on the ground not our heads in the sky.
Of course the main sticking point number 2 is Mr Ronald Martin, hes got so much to lose by selling up that he is not gonna go easy, The only things thats even gonna make him consider an offer if its in excess of his golden nest egg at Fossetts (presuming planning permission is given), has any consortium got the funds to buy him out?)
There is another thing to consider here with the state the club are in, a lot depends on Southend Borough council (who are not exactly co-operative when it relates to major projects) take a look at the proposed Marina plans back in the 1960's /70's or even the Seafront plans, if they decide in the end not to back Southend Utds plans Rons castle building is gonna come to an end very rapidly so it might be the ideal time for a buy out.
I hope you can finally contact Ron and maybe get some answers becuse as it stands we are down Leigh creek without a paddle.
Keep us updated if anything arises Good luck
UTB

@stan collymore - in these dark times it’s nice to read your posts. Please don’t stay away, keep posting, it won’t stop us getting relegated, but it’ll give all us diehard fans a huge lift to know you still care about the club.?

PS: Why do you not include @SUFCRootsHall in your Twitter header? Is this because of Ron Martin?

PPS: When you buy SUFC will you redevelop Root Hall, and save us from the soul-less Fossetts folly?? ✌

Be interested to know exactly what Stan suggests we do as a fan base

I think we should probably nominate one person to talk to / contact Stan , rather than bombard him with umpteen messages , maybe one of the mods ?obviously his posts can be read by everyone but I think just one person collating everyone’s thoughts and putting them to him would save his in box filling up

Fair. Always going to be an issue though when putting it on a public forum ?

Stan - did you ever try and contact Mark Molsley to offer help with player recruitment? Have you tried to contact any other directors of the club to see if it's possible to get Ron's ear that route?

If the club can be segregated from the development around it somehow, then maybe the club can be sold separately to a consortium involving Collymore.

There is no way RM will sell the whole thing as a going concern unless the sale covered the cost of the profit he would make from the development

It's just nice to hear from an ex-player right now. A bit of support goes a long way in these covid times, everyone's on their own journey and many will have suffered in the past year, without even thinking about football.
I'd like to see more ex players come on here and say hello, fans need a lift.

oooh I'll see if any fancy a post.

Absolutely great to hear from Stan and to know that he still has some respect for us even if the owner of the club is so bereft of manners that he doesn't even acknowledge the offer of help. Sadly, that's why we are where we are. A little man with a big ego.

At least Stan's post on here has lifted some of the gloom I have been feeling since last evening's debacle.

Anyone who bought shares in the club was buying shares for their love of SUFC, nothing else and nothing more! If you ever thought your shares would be worth anything, more fool you!

How have we NO heard from RM today. Today would of been the day to say, you know what I’ve ****ed it here. Hands up. Instead radio silence.

As in a few days it will once again be some bull**** statement about how it’s not over till it’s over and he is trying to sign Cristian Ronaldo and a load of other rubbish.

TB Scott was right earlier in the season, a protest needed to happen then... and not at roots hall, outside RMs house.

Having spent 12 hours today looking through companies house records I’m confident, we’re ****ed! In simple terms!

The only way out is Fossetts Farm or Ron sells. Pigs might fly Stan.

Unless you’re bringing someone to the table with with a genuine love for English Football or SUFC... as who wants to buy a conference club?

Has anyone actually confirmed this is the real Stan?

Hey everyone, long time no speak.

Firstly, hope everyone is staying safe and healthy in these extraordinary times, that trumps everything, including football.

Ive read a few posts on here a number of times, mostly football based on my short but wonderful time at Southend, and some who are rude, misinformed, rake up irrelevant jibes from 25 years ago. Friend or foe, that's fine with me.

But I'll tell you two facts. Absolute facts about me in 2021.

First is that I can afford to pay my milk bill so I don't need to chase around looking to do anything that I don't want to do. I've left broadcasters, harangued them over issues that ironically have proved me right in the last 48 hours ( Super League), taken some to court and won for illegality ( phone hacking) and stood alone at times in speaking out about many issues involved in our sport. So please, don't think for a minute that attaching myself in any way, shape or form to Southend United has any material benefit to me whatsoever. I do fine as I am, and am very happy as I am.

Uncouth? Yes.
Shouty? Yes
Blunt? Yes

Why? Because sometimes, again as we've seen in the last 48 hours, maintaining the status quo tends to see clubs eat themselves willingly, so I decide to crack the odd nut with a sledgehammer to make my points heard.

Secondly, the contacts I have in business and football get me immediately in front of the top 1% of people in global football. Just because you don't see me or hear me on the circuit of nodding pundits, again please don't think that I am not active. I see, speak and am regularly contacted by the biggest, and I mean biggest administrators, ex players and football business investors around.

In 2018 I was asked by RT ( Russian TV news channel/propaganda outlet/ tick as you like) to make a TV programme about the 2018 World Cup. Carter Blanche to contact people I knew, stories I wanted to cover, counties to visit.

These are the people I contacted directly, from my contacts book, with zero outside help ( I put a small team together to produce and help). Now I'll be modest, bit if you can find anyone bar Lineker, Neville and perhaps a very small handful of people in the sport who can call someone in Madrid at 4pm then sit down with them in the Real Madrid complex at 8pm, then please, please invite them into discuss Southend United as they will simply be able to dump an extraordinary amount of leads for you to give your club the best chance of survival, then progression.

This is purely for those who look ate as some kind of mouthy cartoon character. ??

All joined me for free, for hours, from Zico and Lineker's home to the run of Hagi's academy to Ramos and Carlos at Madrid football complex to Fatima Samoura, the most powerful woman in our sport, to the inside of the FA, Brazilian FA, Icelandic FA and beyond.

So all I'd ask, is that you park your "Collymore is a loud mouth, dogging wifebeater ", as only the loud mouth is relevant in 2021. You don't get access to these people easily unless you have some clout.

So I can afford to pay my milk bill and I can access a huge repository of potential support for a forward thinking project which would see stability, immediate fan representation ( i make zero apology for supporting 50+1 over 2 decades now) in the club structure and a guarantee of Football League football in future seasons.

That's it. That's the totality of an offer to Ron, Southend United and it's supporters. As I've offered several times in person to Ron over a decade ago, in a message to the club a week or more ago abd a number of times directly to you, the people who matter.

You all have a choice. Continue to maintain the status quo with Ron in Non League, hope that the culture of the club goes from abject and utter failure to Salford City-esque investment and bloody minded ladder climbing or open hearts and minds to anyone who wants the best for the club.

I proved my worth in the Championship at Southend, for 6 months only, granted, but the club were down and out before I arrived, the club got £3 million in the bank, a shiny stand and a solid platform to build from. These are facts.

Ive also gone on record a number of times, with zero benefit other than the truth, to say how proud and happy I was at Southend United in those 6 months and how the kindness and support I received helped not only my career on the pitch but my mental health in my darkest hours. Southend mattered, the support mattered.

If I never visit the Hall again, I'll be sad but I'll live.

If Southend United end up in Tier 8, I'll be sad but I'll live.

But the offer of only tangible, real time experience of a 30 year industry professional with Grade A contacts, genuine warmth and love for a club and it's support could only ever be scoffed at by an idiot or a billionaire.

If the club need me, for anything, without prejudice, they know where I am. As do you.

Stay safe.

Stanley Victor Collymore

Hi Stan, I think most of us appreciate your words at this very sad time. As you rightly say the pandemic certainly puts everything in to prospective but right now we are all hurting a lot.

By far the majority of people on here know where the blame for our pitiful demise lies and if you can light up any part of our future anywhere near as much as you lit up our pitch all those years ago then I for one would have something to smile about again.

3rd of April, 3pm.

I've sent emails in recent years, nothing, so as I do with Premier League or other clubs I'll drop a DM.

Most clubs get back to me in a minute or an hour. To date Southend United is the only club that haven't replied.

Now if this is the way a half decent player for the club is blanked then me nor anyone else is in a position to offer anything to the club.

I'm sure, absolutely sure that there is no mal intent from Ron towards the club as I'm sure there wasn't from Vic Jobson back in the day, but until someone in authority opens the door to as many ideas and possibilities as practicable then a relegation or financial collapse becomes inevitable.

I've been at Old Trafford, Anfield, Wembley working over the years and a positive Southend result comes through in League 1, and I'm happy, because the club are fine and competing. I contacted the club on the 3rd because the offer of any help to Ron and the club is only a sign of wanting the club to be stable.

Step one is simple, for Ron to open the door.

Step two is an honest appraisal of what his plan to get back is and who will lead that charge.

Step three is his willingness to sell and what is his price.

Step four and most important step is whether Ron wants to continue or not, to have the Supporters Trust given a role in the structure of the club, an ability to invest and make decisions in a restructuring of the board.

It is an absolute ****ing nonsense that English football fans feel this is some kind of unattainable Everest while their German counterparts have it as a birthright.

So the good Sheikh Mansour himself could be waiting in the wings but unless Ron decides to pick up his phone and engage and be open to change then everyone is wasting their time.

Maybe I’m missing the point but how were we going to get players in April? Or is that the point , Stan knew players that had no side that would join us for a few weeks to keep us up
