Stan "THE MAN" "LEGEND" Collymore,
So good for us fans to hear someone who genuinally cares about the club come back to try to give us a lift in this our darkest hour. Believe me its appriciated.
(what we could have done with your talent this year but unfortunately several years too late).
In regards to the situation you are proposing it sounds great in theory the only 2 main sticking points are 1stly how many of those contacts would be willing to get involved with us? and would they be able to advise /give any help to the club financially (like the backing salford has gotten?) not saying it cant be done but lets keep our feet on the ground not our heads in the sky.
Of course the main sticking point number 2 is Mr Ronald Martin, hes got so much to lose by selling up that he is not gonna go easy, The only things thats even gonna make him consider an offer if its in excess of his golden nest egg at Fossetts (presuming planning permission is given), has any consortium got the funds to buy him out?)
There is another thing to consider here with the state the club are in, a lot depends on Southend Borough council (who are not exactly co-operative when it relates to major projects) take a look at the proposed Marina plans back in the 1960's /70's or even the Seafront plans, if they decide in the end not to back Southend Utds plans Rons castle building is gonna come to an end very rapidly so it might be the ideal time for a buy out.
I hope you can finally contact Ron and maybe get some answers becuse as it stands we are down Leigh creek without a paddle.
Keep us updated if anything arises Good luck
