Being a saddo with an eye for statistics Saturdays defeat can and should be forgotten.

We have been promoted six times in the Football League to date and in two of those seasons we were beaten 2-0 in the first game! Ironically, on both occasions by Peterborough.

The full stats are.....

1971/72 Division 4 Final position 2nd
Game 1 Lost (A) 0-2
Game 2 Won (H) 3-0

1977/78 Division 4 Final position 2nd
Game 1 Won (A) 1-0
Game 2 Draw (H) 0-0

1980/81 4th Division Champions!
Game 1 Won (A) 2-1
Game 2 Won (H) 5-1

1986/87 Division 4 Final position 3rd
Game 1 Lost (A) 0-2
Game 2 Draw (H) 1-1

1989/90 Division 3 Final position 3rd
Game 1 Won (H) 2-0
Game 2 Draw (A) 3-3

1990/91 Division 2 Final postion 2nd
Game 1 Won (A) 2-1
Game 2 Won (H) 3-2

So before some of you contemplate suicide or a "Tilson out" campaign take a look at the stats.

Let's all wait until we have 10 games under our belt and review the situation then!

Can we have stats after 10 games as well please PoD!

Quite agree. 10 games is a good guide.

However, the games was awful. Jupp looks clueless and Hunt should not play in midfield at home but, as I feared, injuries forced Tilly's hand. Hope in Pettefer who looked the only midfielder with any attacking ideas.

Great advert for not starting the seson that early in August, get an early goal and the odds are good the other team will be too knackered to get back in it.

Hey Technician,

I was bored and have answered your request so here goes....

1971/72 W 5, D 3, L 2 (Only 1 win in first six games!!!)

1977/78 W 7, D 2, L 1

1980/81 W 6, D 1, L 3

1986/87 W 4, D 3, L 3

1989/90 W 8, D 1, L 1

1990/91 W 8, D 1, L 1

So as you can see from 1971/72, a poor start can quickly be turned around!

Stat-o-man

Can we check on Mr. D. Webb's availability?

... seriously though, the last two aren't inconceivable and I think we should start a pact right now!

On 10 games, if we are anything like the worst of those stats, we should start an I TOLD YOU SO!!! thread!
