I was reading some choice quotes from Mark E Smith yesterday and they reminded me that I have never really got quite 'in' to The Fall.

I have a few songs of theirs knocking around on tapes from old Peel sessions and suchlike (Bingo Master's Breakout, Feeling Numb, Rainmaster) but wouldn't mind exploring them a bit more.

So, does anyone know a good place to start in terms of their (very big) back catalogue?

And while we're here, here's that old clip of him doing the football results

that football results clip is so good, i remember that live! i can't say i ever got into them either.. i have This Nation's Saving Grace purely cos it's got 10/10 on pitchfork and it's a good album but if that is the best they have then i'm not really too fussed about trying to get into them really, it's an acquired taste i reckon

There's a pretty good 'best of' called "50,000 fall fans..." or something like that.

The Fall are one of those bands i like but have never really spent the time or money to really get into, same as you really.

Apparently their new album out end of April is meant to be very good. (Imperial Wax Solvent).

I can't wait for Mark E Smith's autobiography to come out though, now that will be a music bio worth reading!

I think they're best experienced live than on record. I've seen them twice at festivals and they're just brilliant on stage.
