Greatest Southend Moment?

Both very special moments and I'm lucky enough to have witnessed both first hand.

For me though it has to Benji@Bury. When we eventually left the ground, the drive back through Manchester was brilliant with scores of celebrating shrimpers in convey, scarves and flags waving and horns blasting out to let everyone know we'd just gone up. United had just beaten City at home 1-0 and the fans coming away from Old T couldn't work out what the hell a load of fans in yellow and blue were making all the fuss about. When we stopped at some lights a Utd fan asked us who'd scored their winner as no one seemed to know who the hell he was. Priceless.

ps Utd's goal was scored by a 17 year old called Ryan Giggs!

Looks like it's curtains for Freddy - unless you know better? :winking:

A tremendous millimetre perfect free-kick that led to "little" Southend making headlines worldwide, and bragging rights over the most famous club in the world.

There should only have been one contenter for the competition.

The one moment that sets us apart from all other team in the world.

Being the only team to have a positive record against manchester united - the world biggest club - is something to be hugely proud of, and is without doubt something we will all tells our children and grandchildren about.

Freddy gave us all one of the greatest moments of our supporting lives that night.

Da da da da!

Just want to say thank you to all 98 of you that voted and especially the 51 that voted for Benji's goal.

Thanks MK for a very good final, was very very close but the right man won.

Thanks also to SUFCStu for all the hard work he put into this battle
