The Ladies World Cup starting now!

Only seen 2 games sofar. Both today.. Italy, collapsed as soon as the going got tough. Sweden, constructed a good win. France, sulked their way to a win, and Brazil... Fell over a bit.
I used to watch ladies football on ch4 back in the day of Doncaster Belles winning everything, then it was great attacking but defence was lacking and goalkeeping was shocking... personally, I don't see much improvement. Just more 'professional' at being average.

Wasn’t the USA woman’s team the best in the world at one point ?
They still are, they're number 1 in the FIFA rankings and have won the last 2 world cups, it's probably the only country in the world where the women's side has the same level of interest as the men's. The Netherlands match showed they aren't invincible though.

Had the great privilege of attending France v Brazil yesterday on a crowd of just under 50,000 (probably 80% Brazil fans). For a neutral game, on the other side of the world.

And it was a phenomenal experience. Genuine goosebumps at the Brazil anthem and just overall with the colour, noise and atmosphere.

The football itself was end to end and entertaining, the winner from France was a great delivery and very good header right in front of where we were sitting.

Sure I could pick apart aspects of it but why compare to the men’s game when I can just embrace the positives about it and buy in to the joy of being part of such an amazing experience?

I’ve managed to get a ticket for the Jamaica v Brazil game at AAMI Park Melbourne. Really enjoying the tournament so far. Once in a lifetime opportunity to attend a World Cup.

Got it on in the background and I'm surprised how poor Canada look, they won the 2021 Olympics (which, unlike the men, is a fully senior competition) so I was expecting them to be decent but they've looked clueless today, especially at the back.

Didn’t they only score one goal from open play in the KOs that competition? **** Canada. The Matilda’s are on fire

Whereas my Kiwi ladies are languishing in 3rd place in Group A, but far from out of it yet.
