The Monarchy

To be honest we are running (as do most monarchist countries these days) along the lines of a republic anyway, Personally I am in favour of keeping the Royal familiy as it does keep a lid on the electorate picking a charismatic but evil head of state and I don't think quite as many tourists would vist Windsor/Backingham Palace etc if they didn't have the misguided notion that glimpsing an old age pensioner with no grip on reality would make their holiday complete.

However the extended family are living off the state to a degree which if they were not related in one way shape or form to HRH , would have the Daily Mail apoplectic.

I would say Keep the Queen, Tolerate the Greek, may as well keep ole jug ears as he is at the moment as he would be retiring shortly but put the rest back into normal life, one Ole Liz pops her clogs and the bumbling tree talker moves up , then take his son (we all know there is only one , come on) out of normal life and then give him the rudimentary training in being über posh ready to take up the post.

A small concise squad, run on a tight budget, you know thats the way to go

Fully agree with Firestorm on this, and can't really add to his post, other than the only recipients of the civil list should be the Queen and those immediately in line for succession to the throne.

On a slightly different note it's possible that the Queen could be as long lived as her mother, therefore jug ears may kick the bucket before her and William will succeed to the throne.
