Breaking News The Nov/Dec Embargo thread

When do you think the embargo will be cleared?

Talking of punishment for clubs, for me its clear. 1 embargo is 'allowed' Sometimes clubs just get in a state.

After that, its a sliding scale of point penalties for each embargo. 6, then 12 for the next etc.

Embargo's seem to do little to deteer owners like Ron playing "bank" with HMRC and its not on. So many businesses struggle, but you have to pay your bills and especially HRMC. What gives football clubs the right to just ignore paying that.

As others have said above, the HMRC bill isnt a bolt from the blue. Its payable when due and any decent accountant will be able to forecast how much it is and when its due. So this has absolutely been known about it was coming over the hill for a long while.

Absolutely sick to death how this club is run. I've been a supporter since 1986 and been all over the country over the years following the club and I'm done. I feel like I cant keep supporting the club, its too depressing.

I dont think thats the case. More likely to me that tom makes the budget. Ron says thats fine. Tom proceeds then cheques bounce.

Ron knows what needs to come out of the account. But he doesnt put enough money in. Not fit and proper, he's a cowboy.
Then if I was Tom i'd be calling Patrick into my office asking where is the money for HMRC and what have we spent it on, why has it not been budgeted for.

I do wonder if Patricks job is to manage the clubs finances or just go to Ron with the begging bowl asking "please sir, I want some more" when the big bills come in.

What the hell is going on with this site. Whenever I come here on yet another thread has been closed by mods. I know I've mentioned it before but the censorship is becoming a bit of a joke now to be honest. It seems we are the being dictated to what we can and can't say continuously. Even the pre-match thread has for some reason been closed, just seems wrong to me. If we're not entitled to have a moan now then when will we ever, it can't all be positive la la la conversations.
Yes, seem to have taken on a lot of traffic warden types just lately, never sure now to get what you’ve written, is Ron now a mod?

Is it just me who thinks the leagues powers in these situations are insufficient? Take our case as a prime example. An owner who, to all intents and purposes, has full control. No one can buy the club without the owner selling. No chance of a hostile takeover for example. Said owner is then proven to be unfit. In our case several failures to keep HMRC happy.

For me a transfer embargo feels like an insufficient measure. I feel like the league or a regulatory body should have the power to force an owner to sell (after sufficient chances and warnings) and not only that but sell a complete club including all existing infrastructure. The transfer embargo does not punish an owner in any way, just the club. This also applies to point deductions.

Just my thoughts anyway.
So we are talking about a world where government's with a record of human rights abuses are allowed to buy our leading clubs and we want clubs takien away from other owners because tax bills are paid late? This is the problem.

Boywonder2 has provided accurate information in the past, Shrimpet Steve hasn't. Boywonder2's silence in the past week (when they are usually quick to dispell financial rumours) is what got a lot of people worried, we've probably been in trouble for longer than a week but Ron has likely been stringing along club employees for a while as well to stop our troubles leaking.
We were undoubtedly in trouble just after the Sheffield lads turned up. They inspired the team game one…..we all expected the following week for an influx of the same to get us up the League, and the NOTHING in red on the site, breaking news….think then was when it happened!

Just don’t know what to say now. Think this may be the end. Don’t blame Ron for all this but Brown really f-cked us with his incompetence in the transfer market.
I like many supporters am totally worn out. It don’t feel like Christmas ? is coming.

We WILL go down this season if we don't improve the team.

Simple as that.

Ron needs to sell up and give us half a chance. all this "lets get behind the lads" bull**** has got to stop!!!!! We have gone from a league 1 side pushing for promotion to this!

What is it going to take for some of you to wake up and realize we are doomed if something doesn't change? Conference South? Isthmian Prem?

COME ON PEOPLE!!! Have a look around!!! do you really think this is normal? enough is enough!

GET MARTIN OUT.

Ron's got form on the Walter Mitty front.

Courting 'Arry' Larsson, Campbell, and other unsuitable types.
He appears relentless in refusing to face facts.

Imagine how flat the squad and management must feel?

They know they are left with what's in front of them - and it won't escape relegation.
Just when you think there is hope, it's cruelly snuffed out.

Quite possibly true, and we carried on employing more management staff after that!

Rons robbed peter to pay another paul.

I’d be interested to know how much is owed HMRC. There is no way we’d have been able to rack up a VAT bill to the level (£500k was it?) that was owed before, given that we had little to no income for the first half the year.

The question is then, is it a small comfort that the bill is unlikely to be as daunting as before. Or is it even more concerning that we are unable to pay what I can only assume is a much smaller bill?

I’d be more concerned we can’t pay a bill that should in theory be smaller to be honest...

So we know now why Maher cant bring new players in.What we wont to know now what are the plans to lift the embargo so we can. This current group are useless and with the embargo in place we are stagnating. So a statement from the club would be nice,no flannel clean facts which supporters deserve.

Inclined to agree. Although I suppose if the bills smaller then it will make it a bit easier to scramble around and find some funds to keep the club limping on for another few months.

Either way, it’s not good enough and we need answers.

Do you not think that it was the CEO’s decision to hire numerous staff members recently? I’m pretty sure he would have known about our precarious situation long before he sanctioned those hires.
These hires were about getting the right structure in place longer term. Probably there is/was a belief that the embargo either wasn't going to happen or would be dealt with relatively quickly.

this HMRC debt has been outstanding a while i think and I thought a payment plan was agreed/going to be agreed. There are numerous clubs with historic tax debt on such plans (numerous deferments during cover).

there are instruments in place allowing for secured loans with the consortium running the Fossets/RH developments. I suspect the timing ideally required SoS approval to happen to free credit lines. Amongst all the misinformation that naturally circulates in an information void is the idea that the SoS is calling the plans in. Not so. The plans need to be submitted to SoS for technical reasons applying to part of the proposal. What we should be all over is the fact that the council have still (to my understanding) failed to pass those plans on (so the 21 days has not started ticking). Surely the Council would have expected that they would approve their own project so how on earth was everything not all ready to go?

Once again for all sorts of reasons I think the money will be found. But i feel hugely for the management team at the club who have been slaughtered for supposedly failing to do things promised when in reality their hands were tied.
