First of all I would like to send the highest of congratulations on a well deserved win and promotion into the League One for the 2005/06 campaign.

By my sign in name you will see that I am a Spurs supporter but these past two weeks I have been watching your team earn its well deserved promotion into a higher division. Mark Warner and his wife Christine who have close ties to the club got a rallying call to their friends for support in these past two weeks and I have gladly obliged and watched some fantastic football played.

Southend are now my second team behind Spurs and thanks to Mark already feel a strange connection with the club! Having watched your past two matches and partially following throughout this campain I was impressed by how far they have come under your manager in the past season and a half. Today in Cardiff the progression of your team has made underlines the progress of your club and am very happy for all the supporters of the club, especially for Mark and Christine who have travelled many a mile from Malta to be there and witness automatic promotion and the LDV trophy. This was not to be as we all know and it was a hard pill to swallow for both of them coming back with a lot of questions to the club's future progress. But wasn't it all worth it today?

I cannot imagine how euphoric you supporters must be but sure envy your success. Live for this moment you Shrimpers, next season is a new beginning.

Now, you got to help me. I registered as my sign in name, however when i want to post a topic, reply or anything it tells me I do not have rights to do this? What can it be.....

help!

Welcome to the board and thanks for the kind words. Hoping you'll be attending Roots Hall.

Tilly has transformed this Club along with the help of Brush, the work they have done has been nothing short of remarkable. When Tilly took control we seemed destined for Conference football, and if we'd have gone down we would have been there for a while. When he was appointed there were a lot of mixed feelings, one group where disappointed (Myself included, what a tool hey) because of the speculation with Collymore, I would have loved to have seen him back at the Club, another group thought it was a money saving option and another were delighted that our player of the Millenium had been named manager. So alot of mixed feelings.

Tilly has had to win a lot of fans over in his role as manager and today he has won over his hardest critics I would have felt. He did a fantastic job last season. Towards the end of the season we were playing quality football and looked like a side that wanted to play football and wanted to play football for Tilly. He took us to our first final in our 98 year (At the time) history, a magnificent achievement you must agree. Although we lost 2 nil, a great day out was had and valuable experience was gained. He eventually guided us to safety, and a 17th place finish, the same as the previous season.

This season we were bottom after 6 games, then Tilly made a couple of changes, Gray was dropped from the starting line up, Barrett and Che were both brought in for Edwards and Nicky. The team were born again. We reached the top of the pile twice and reached another LDV Final. Again losing two nil, but only after extra time and they did us proud, possibly with more luck we would be in the LDV next season defending the title. After that we really blew it, missing out on automatic promotion on the final day.

He then had to lift the troops up for two difficult matches against one of the better sides in the division, in the form of Northampton. He guided us past them 1-0 overall thanks to find of the season, Freddy Eastwood. He is another example of one of Tilly's strengths, he can spot a good player and isn't afraid to play them and give them a chance. To date (I hope I'm not about to jinx it) but Tilly hasn't signed a bad player. The closest we have come would be Blewitt, but he hasn't played for us since joining on loan and has helped bloster the numbers at a critical time.

Tilly, again, proved he isn't afraid to tamper with his team selections by bringing in a player that hadn't figured since Oxford away, in our biggest match, at the time, of the season in the form of Nicky Nic Vs Northampton at home. This proved to be a master stroke and another appearance at Cardiff beckoned.

Today, he has taken a side that finished 4th this season, that had won the most amount of away games, scored the most amount of away goals, gone on a Club record 18 matches unbeaten to the promised land of League One and for this we will be grateful forever and he will have a special place in my heart.

Before the game, him and Brush walked past the Wellington pub in Cardiff and appluaded us fans, who in turn appluaded him. He has a great relationship with the fans and long may it continue.

Who knows where Tilly and Brush could take us, but one thing is for sure, buckle up, its gonna be a bumpy ride.

Am a Yeovil fan, but went to Cardiff yesterday to experience the stadium and cheer your lads on. You deserved it with some neat football at times. Had a great day out. Looking forward to playing you again next season. Congrats!
