I don't think this chap is a big fan of Blair and Brown.

Plenty of fair points, although I would like to point out that the Dome is now ace. Not sure if any politicians can take credit for that, but it is. Little mention of some of the progressive social policies either (e.g. minimum wage, gay equality) but hey, it makes a change from a Guardian blog being posted on here.

Removing control of the interest rate from government was a good move by the labour government (although it was a win-win move for them really!)

Yes in hindsight they probably were. Thatcher obsessed public school pricks in the disguise of socialists.

I'd agree with that, sold us down the river while they sat in their ivory towers coining it in at a rate of knots from directorships left, right and centre. Hypocrites almost to a man (and carefully selected woman - remember the Blair Babes?). Never has a generation been so entirely screwed over as the generation at school during their stint in power.

...no, not even in disguise. They sold their Socialist values well before that.

The Major Government, surely, has to take some beating.

I'm no Tory by any means, but didn't Major start the NI peace process? And he didn't drag the country into an unwinnable, illegal war.

Yep, pretty much. Even the first Gulf war he inherited.

Strange to think, but John Major is probably our greatest living Prime Minister!

The last part - do you mean their education policy? Gove is universally hated by teachers and pupils, were their policies worse than his?

Really? I was at secondary school from 1997 - 2003, and then university from 2003-2007, so completely under labour control. I don't feel screwed over by the labour government of that time. The international economic downturn, breaking of education pledges by the coalition government and the heightened expectations of many youngsters is probably why there's a current generation who feel completely let down.

Labour should have had the balls to tax the rich and middle classes and use the money to create opportunity for those at the bottom.

Instead they let them rot on benefits whilst the rest of the country sailed away over the horizon.

so what do we do!!! labour were/are like that(the workers party!!!),this mob only care about rich people-firms getting richer, quicker, less & less protection for the workers, unlike germany, france, what do we do!!!vote for an extremist party? extreme right wing!!communist party!!green party..but what the people should do,is at least go and vote..too many people want change, but to lazy to vote..im a brit ,24 years working here in germany, a european, but im not allowed to vote in the german general elections, only the smaller ones ..german passport holders only !!!

Nonsense. Labour failed to change their course in light of the international problems and continued to try and spend our way out of trouble. Definitely cant use this as an excuse I'm afraid.
