Some of you really have misunderstood the point of an anthem

It doesn't have to be some local song that nobody knows.

It will be a song that the fans want to sing and be something that resonates with current events.

Away fans will hear this and understand the subtle message and not think "The **** is this ****?"

How many young fans can you see singing "Only you" while holding a pint?

Nothing needs to be made official but right now for the first time (in my lifetime) Southend fans have started singing a song together and I think it's beautiful

And that is perhaps the best way to leave it. For the last two home games the song has been aired in the West stand, and bit by bit it may spread along the stand, or it may not. If it does that maybe the South Stand will join in. It's a bit like 'Stand up if you love Southend', 'it almost becomes a Mexican wave.

Trying to reach agreement on this sort of thing on the Zone is a bit like herding cats, it ain't easy.

So you cannot see any relevance or meaning in the lyrics, 'Don't worry about a thing, coz every little thing's gonna be alright' in relation to our club's history of struggle and what we've been through lately?

Simple lyrics, anthemic top tune, no one ese uses it, it just has to be "The Beat Goes On" by Beady Eye.

All we need is the chorus, which is:

Somewhere in my heart the beat goes on"

You can just keep repeating it, and even if you want add in between repeating a "Der der de der der, der der de der der" in place of the sound at the end of the chorus

I honestly believe that nothing holds a light to this as the song we should adopt.

Everyone could even adopt the 'Liam pose' whilst singing it
