How about Cleo Laine - Southend-on-Sea, great song from 1963.
Dortmund also use it.One of my favourite songs. No problem with it being Ajax anthem. Liverpool and Celtic share you’ll never walk alone. I’d love this to be ours and Ajax’s
And that is perhaps the best way to leave it. For the last two home games the song has been aired in the West stand, and bit by bit it may spread along the stand, or it may not. If it does that maybe the South Stand will join in. It's a bit like 'Stand up if you love Southend', 'it almost becomes a Mexican wave.Nothing needs to be made official but right now for the first time (in my lifetime) Southend fans have started singing a song together and I think it's beautiful![]()
So you cannot see any relevance or meaning in the lyrics, 'Don't worry about a thing, coz every little thing's gonna be alright' in relation to our club's history of struggle and what we've been through lately?I vote no because it's so generic and absolutely meaningless with no connection to the club.
One of the best things about Alty away was not hearing all the generic EFL songs all game.
This a joke a song we never heard of lolEveryone so far has missed by far the best song we could ever have as our anthem
Simple lyrics, anthemic top tune, no one ese uses it, it just has to be "The Beat Goes On" by Beady Eye.
All we need is the chorus, which is:
"So long, so long
Someday all the world will sing my song
Still life remains
Somewhere in my heart the beat goes on"
You can just keep repeating it, and even if you want add in between repeating a "Der der de der der, der der de der der" in place of the sound at the end of the chorus
I honestly believe that nothing holds a light to this as the song we should adopt.
Everyone could even adopt the 'Liam pose' whilst singing it

That would be fabulous if they could crack all the harmonies. One for the old ‘uns on here by I seem to recall some mention of the Turtles’ Happy Together being sung in the (presumably late) ‘60s.Was that ever an anthem at Roots Hall?
