I've always been a fan of "Only You" for the club anthem, but this is a perfect alternative imo.

Very simple to learn lyrics *literally just the bold section to be learnt)....

"Don't worry about a thing
'Cause every little thing is gonna be alright"
Singing, "Don't worry about a thing
'Cause every little thing is gonna be alright!"

Rise up this morning, smiled with the rising sun
Three little birds, perch by my doorstep
Singing sweet songs, of melodies pure and true
Saying, "This is my message to you-ou-ou"

Singing, "Don't worry about a thing
'Cause every little thing is gonna be alright"
Singing, "Don't worry about a thing (Don't worry)
'Cause every little thing is gonna be alright!"

Rise up this morning, smiled with the rising sun
Three little birds, perch by my doorstep
Singing sweet songs, of melodies pure and true
Saying, "This is my message to you-ou-ou"

Singing, "Don't worry about a thing (Worry about a thing, oh)
'Cause every little thing is gonna be alright (Don't worry)

Singing, "Don't worry about a thing (I won't worry)
'Cause every little thing is gonna be alright!"

Singing, "Don't worry about a thing

Listened to the Ajax version the other day.
Not so good in their ground as the DJ, played the song to loud over the tannoy, drowning out mostly the crowd trying to sing it.

Imo,
I would say, mr DJ, start the song of over the tannoy to start the crowd singing, then back off quite a bit with the actual song and let the fans take over and sing it loud and proud, with the actual song being played softly at low level in the back ground.
Then that way, I suppose you would get more fans joining in and singing the song around the ground.

Just on the subject of ‘Only You’, even though Alf didn’t write it she certainly is the voice of it, and Vince Clark is a Basildon boy so it’s as local as they come. Last season I’d say for over a dozen matches, I played the chorus immediately before kick off hoping it would catch on. A bit like Annie’s Song at Sheff Utd where the crowd then belt out ‘you feel up my senses’. I tried and tried but it never took off.

We have never had an anthem. 15 years ago the club ran a vote for a new anthem and ‘Bridge over troubled water’ won. This never took off.

I’ve played Three Little Birds just ONCE and it’s now got its own thread, it’s been sung at another game growing in popularity and fans are even wanting to buy merchandise linked to the song.

In my opinion, it is not an anthem and I feel our anthem is yet to come. One day, we will have an anthem that’s unique to us but until someone writes that song or changes one it’s not yet. However, Three Little Birds is a song that has the power to unite. As many people have said above, it’s well known, some feel it close to the heart with what’s been going on and what’s helpful, it’s easy to sing. We should all be for songs that unite the whole ground and this is one of them. At this moment in time it’s a win. Possibly not a forever song but certainly one that can stay with us and remind us of what we are and where we have come from.

Our fans are awesome, whether they sing every song or not. Once the stadium gets going it really is a cauldron of noise and if this song gets it going right at the start then that’s surely a good thing.

Back to Only You and I still play this at every game. It is played as the players walk around on their lap of honour and normally the second song in as players come past the South and approach the East.

If it's something unique that's wanted how about "Der Hölle Rache kocht in meinem Herzen" from The Magic Flute?

The title even reflects most people's attitude to our Beloved Fuhrer.

It would take a bit of practice (especially the high notes) but would certainly cause a stir.

Not too many can hit those high notes. A Mozart sympathiser rewrite is required.

Three amigo’s
On the touch line

Must surely feature

And that is perhaps the best way to leave it. For the last two home games the song has been aired in the West stand, and bit by bit it may spread along the stand, or it may not. If it does that maybe the South Stand will join in. It's a bit like 'Stand up if you love Southend', 'it almost becomes a Mexican wave.

Trying to reach agreement on this sort of thing on the Zone is a bit like herding cats, it ain't easy.
Most fans need the drama on the pitch to be very high before they will sing any other time than a goal / penalty given / sending off / half and full time. They might shout at the ref, and almost everyone claps, exclaims a near miss or any other such general noises in tune with the flow of the game.

That's not singing throughout the game though.

It’s the reason the atmosphere plummeted (relatively speaking - and by Roots Hall’s high standards) in the years between the North Bank being taken away and the Blue Voice coming together in W block of the West. Those folks were all spread out in the intervening years and singing in-game suffered massively.

Stands at Roots Hall will join in at those high drama moments - and even occasionally at other times… but they only ever follow W block’s lead. So some might say that if W block are singing this song each game it’ll catch on (as much as it ever will) in the rest of the stadium. It never will without them.

It’s a great idea to think about an anthem though IMO, and I really like the song here but it’s only been sung for a couple of weeks. For me give it a few more games and see how we feel about this song then. If it’s growing on us even more then go for it. By then the stadium DJ will surely have picked up on it too.

If it’s going to be an anthem, we’re going to hear it a lot so it’s an important decision to get right…

I was at the Rapid Vienna game on Sunday and they have a club anthem that everyone sings, scarfs in the air, 10 minutes before kick off.

It was very stirring. Someone else's video of it from a few years ago is shared below.

I remember being at a Hammarby game a few years ago and they did the same thing.

Just need to choose the right anthem now, or like Rapid get something written specially for us.

Even though there are many low points in life,
There'll always be Rapid fans!
And it's not just a club for me,
Rapid is my principle in life!

When, after a win, the green flag waves
In the western winds of Hütteldorf,
Then everyone knows what Rapid is,
And anyone who doesn't understand it, I feel sorry for!

Rapid, Rapid, that's my team,
Rapid, Rapid, that's my life!
There's only Rapid for me
And nothing else,
Because I am proud, to be part of this!

When we have a match on the weekend,
We also want to convert our opponents,
That there's nothing more beautiful in football,
Then to be a Rapid fan, to become a Rapid fan!

As champions we hold records,
Everyone abroad knows us!
We're known as a ruthless horde,
Who call themselves Rapid fans proudly!

Rapid, Rapid, we are a unit,
Rapid, Rapid, we stick together!
Regardless of what may come in life,
Rapid will always be there,
My heart is proud, to be a green one!

Rapid, Rapid, we are a unit,
Rapid, Rapid, we stick together!
Regardless of what may come in life,
Rapid will always be there,
My heart is proud, to be a green one!
