Billericay Town's new-look team returned home from Grays Athletic with a well earned point, but it could easily have been all three. Four players made their debuts in this game as manager Justin Edinburgh rang the changes. Both teams started brightly in an exciting first half, although Town should have drawn first blood when Scott Barrett felled the livewire Steve Jones in the area. Barrett was lucky to escape with only a booking. However he stayed on the pitch to save a tame penalty from Jamie Dormer. Town were not to be denied, however, and Dave Reddington netted the opener following a Dormer corner. The game was being played at a ferocious pace, with both teams enjoying some good spells of possession.

Grays drew level in fortuitous style, a few minutes before half time. Stuart Thurgood's corner took a deflection that deceived Weaver in the Billericay goal and beat him at his near post.
