Tillys lack of experience.

I'm guessing your still a teenager with a comment like Tilly and brushes lack of top flight experience? We are Southend United for god's sake. We are a small team that not too many others give a hoot about. Tilly has worked miracles at the club. His record is fantastic. We still compete. He is true blue. No other manager is Southend through and through. We have no right to even be in league one really but we are because of our excellent manager. We have no money either. We need to consolidate and pray for better times ahead. Another manager won't change a thing at Southend. He'd still have no money to spend and he wouldn't care about the place either.

Yes we do, for a club of our size League One is the league that we should be in.

Agree with the rest of it though, Tilson is the right man for the job and hopefully will still be here when the clubs finances are sorted..

You should not assume anything!

No I am not a teen and may even have been watching Southend United longer that you ( though I dont assume).

If you take a look at my original post nowhere did I mention about replacing Tilly. I quote 'Perhaps Tilly needs a better assistant than Paul Brush'.

I agree with all you have said above (except for assuming that I am a teenager). All I am trying to say is that I think Tilly could / may benefit from some input of a person who has been involved at a higher level tactically.

It may be at Tilly has been good for us, but sometimes fresh ideas can make a difference.

It's my opinion and I am entitled to it!

But Paul Brush played in the top flight for in this country. How much of a 'higher level' are you looking for?

Crystal Palace Scored 3 total = 4 goals scored

Steve Tilson
18 seasons 74 goals 58 for Canvey Island 26 for Southend

Hardly prolofic goal scorers are they, and it demonstrates what I mean when I say, that by having someone who does have that sort of experience involved could help.

My understanding, from things I've picked up here and there, is that Brushy concentrates on the defensive side in training and Tilly on the attacking. In that department, the quality of the defenders we've had (and God, haven't there been a lot really!) means that Brushy is doing a lot right!

What on Earth does the number of goals that they scored have to do with anything? Besides, our problems over the years have rarely been to do with not scoring enough goals.

haven't commented on here for a while but when i saw this ridiculous post i had to say something. I honestly don't (as it seems everyone else on here doesn't) get your point?

So you are saying that we need a new Assisstant Manager because we don't score enough goals? is that it? You say they were hardly prolific and didn't play in the top flight, even though it has already been stated that Brushy has played top flight football for West Ham.

Harry Redknapp scored 14 goals in his career, now manages one of the best attacking teams in the country.

Rafa Benitez didn't play in top flight in Spain

Arsene Wenger never played top flight in France

jose mourinho ...

You get the point

People have mentioned a couple of these already and all it says is that a lot of it is about implementation of coaching ideas not how good you are at football. Yes it probably helps if you have played at a higher level, but not always, just ask the hughly successful tony adams or john barnes, we could always get one of them in!!!
